The Dallas Cowboys were one of the surprises out of the NFC this year. Behind a revitalized defense and a strong running game, the Cowboys managed to secure a 10-6 record and a place back in the playoffs.

Due to their defense's success, secondary coach and defensive play-caller Kris Richard has been a hot name across the league as a potential head coaching candidate. Today, Richard added to this list of teams competing for his signature.

The Cowboys finished the regular season as one of the best defensive units in the league, and executives around the league took notice to this success. Dallas finished sixth in the NFL in average points allowed per game with 20.2, as well as seventh in yards-per-game and sixth in total points allowed in the 2018 season, respectively.

After posting impressive stats all over the board, Richard has gained some attention for his work with the Cowboys defense. As the mind behind the Seahawks former "Legion of Boom", Richard has come to Dallas and only continued his growth as a coach.

Now, with the Cowboys back in the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons, teams have identified Richard as the man behind the madness.

2 words: Rooney Rule

Teams are getting it out of the way early. Richard also interviewed for a HC vacancy after being fired from Seattle last year. Again, the Rooney Rule was in play. Richard was eventually hired as a position coach (not even a DC) with the Cowboys and handed the illustrious Coordinator title of 'Passing Game Coordinator'.

Worry not friends....this reminds me of 2014 when many thought Dallas would lose Linehan & Marinelli after the team went 12-4...NFL GMs remembered the Linehan & Marinelli led regimes. Marinelli's was a historic 0-16.

I think the Bucs will hire Brian Kelly.

The Jets will look for an offensive coach, think McCarthy, Gase, Bieniemy

I don't have a bead on Miami.

Miami would be a good place for Richards to go.
All they need is a good QB.

Several days ago on sports radio the question was asked, why was Kris fired in Seattle? It was said that players got tired of his act and eventually tuned him out. I just can’t recall if it was Rapaport or somebody else that said that.
