That's the way to wear down a defense in a close game, even when the run game wasn't working, he stayed with it. Memo to JG....

co-sign.

Their D was a big part of that cause they were never down more than 6.

sticking with the run too long (even though it was working ok) almost cost us the Detroit game IMO.

We ran the ball 15 times. There's nothing sticky about that situation.

In the detroit game, we threw the ball 44 times and ran the ball 15 times....7 times for Barber and 8 times for Romo.

We ran the ball 4 total times in the second half.

Kudos to Norv for just "sticking it".... sticking it to everyone... he got them to win in the playoffs.

No-they beat the Titans b/c quite simply, the Titans' O BLOWS CHUNKS.

And say all you want about pounding the rock, but LT *is* the central part of their offense, so of course they're going to stick with the run. OTOH-Owens is OUR central part, so we're going to have to open up the passing game early.

BTW-if they lollypop with Indy like they did with TN in the 1st half, they're going to get smoked.

He stuck with the run because he doesn't trust his QB or his receivers, and his defense was affording him the opportunity to risk some 3 and outs. There is no magic formula of "stick with the run and win" for all teams... you do what the situation calls for.

I agree the SD offense is centered on the running game and our really isn't. Kudos to Norv but they played a team that was almost a double digit underdog.

Hats off to Norval Turner, whose steady hand got the Chargers a victory.
Old cara de luna really took a big step toward being a better than average (some would say awful) coach.

Again, congrats Norv
and good luck against the Pats

Some of you still don't understand what Troy Aikman said so long ago, "how hard it is to win a game in the NFL."

Norv Turner made some great decisons today (kicking the FG when fans wanted him to go for it, then going for it and getting the TD later in the game), and had some great play calling in the 2nd half. Favored team or not, they WON, and lets just hope we do as well next week.

The mighty San Diego Chargers defeated the superbowl bound Tennessee Titans in a thrilling upset. It was a sight to behold as the best quarterback in the league vince young was slayed by many merry men. He nearly led the titans to victory going into the half leading 6-0.

Amazing the chargers didn't choke it away thats whats amazing. Norv would have been the goat and the GM who just got a 5 year extension would be a laughingstock. Enjoy the Colts.

He run down the Titans cause they are a bad and injured team who couldn't keep up with a healthy, play all 4 quarters team.

The problem is when you stop thinking! Blindly adhering to the pass or run is wrong. You take what the defense gives you. The key is developing your offense to the point that you are able to run or pass. When a defense is forcing 8 man fronts, you can burn them in the air. If they are playing soft zones, you run up the middle. If they are playing Cover 2, you better be be able to complete intermediate throws and underneath throws. If they blitzing and playing man coverage, you better be able to throw deep and get a big play. Championship teams can do it all regardless if they have a preference for one type of play. San Diego could do more than run. They made pass plays when they needed them.

Kudos to Norv's defense for taking advantage of a completely inept Vince Young and holding them to 6 points so that he COULD stick to the run all game.

Now we see if he can make it any farther than Marty Schottenheimer. Somehow....I doubt it.
