Weeden is trash but your hero Cassel is trash too. If Cassel is so great, then he will do so much better right? Why don't we have a friendly bet on it? Or are you a chicken like your buddy RunDMC? Have some faith in your hero... and some pride in yourself, that you're not just running your mouth and actually believe what's coming out of it. Don't be illin' like RunDMC.

Why are you calling Cassel, "my hero", where have I stated such? And who here said Cassel is great? You're not related to Brandon Weeden, are you?

And sure I'll do a friendly wager with you, since Cassel is "my hero", how about we make this bet. Matt Cassel will win MORE games then Brandon Weeden this year, sound good? Whoever loses the best has to change their signature to the liking of the winner. Agree? :D

Looks like Kurt may have taken one too many shots in his playing days and got his Cassel scouting report mixed up with Dan Fouts. That's pretty much the opposite of what Cassel brings to the table. Well, the interceptions when he tries to do too much is accurate though.

To be fair to Matt, he hasn't really played much over the last two years so he may be a bit different now. All we really have to go on that's immediate is this year in the preseason/training camp with the Bills, where reports such as this surfaced:

"Matt Cassel again did exactly what Matt Cassel always does. He threw safe, short passes and did nothing to distinguish himself."

But hey, let's go deep to Devin and Lucky!

You mean there's a reason why Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel beat him out? Nahhhh

there are reports that not everybody within the Bills organization wanted to let Cassel go. Becuase if TT got hurt, then Emanuel would have to start. And they didnt want that to happen........................

Fair enough, but I'm not going to use QB wins which is a lame stat as you well know. You can propose whichever QB metric you like, I'm flexible.

If you look at the preseason playing time splits, the Bills wanted one of the young QB's to win the job, and who can blame them? Cassel was just going to be holding the space anyway. He's 33 years old and the Bills needed to try to find a franchise QB. When Taylor played better than expected in the preseason, they took a chance on him, and cut Cassel to save salary. Manuel did not beat him out, he was just cheaper and younger. When they resigned Cassel (before trading him to us) he was the backup QB, Manuel was #3.

In 2014, the Vikings did the same thing but they actually gave Cassel a decent amount of playing time. He played very well in the preseason games, and beat Bridgewater and Ponder for the starting job. He ultimately broke his foot in the start of the third game and didn't play again.

I agree with you on the QB comments but in our last 2 games our WRs have done a piss poor job of getting open. you can't let a single DB take you out of the game for the entire game.

I haven't seen the All22 so I don't know what happened on the back end of the field.

I think hitting the wide open guys that Weeden missed would be a start.

Yeah, well there's that. I haven't looked at a single replay or All22 all year. After the first two I haven't even wanted to. So I have no idea what is going on back there.

To me the big difference between Cassel and Weeden is at least Cassel has had some success in the past ... Weeden really hasn't had success in the league, he's won 5 games in his career. Now whether Cassel has grasped enough of the offence to milk a difference only time will tell. they should beat the Giants Sunday night after returning from their bye week, the Giants paying Monday night in Philly should be the perfect scenario to end this losing streak ... if we lose that game I don't see us even in the hunt for a playoff spot when Romo returns.

Weeden had all the confidence in the world. He has an arm and wants to take those throws, said so repeatedly when he first took over for Romo.

The staff is who lacks the confidence. That is a big reason why he is upset with the benching. I don't think for a second it is because he likes to dink and dunk the ball. That is not how he operated in Cleveland. This is a case where they were trying to protect themselves from the INTs and risky passes and it resulted in these gameplans.

Oh, I'm positive they put him on a leash. He's an INT machine. So I think it is both. I don't for one second believe they are so conservative they wouldn't let him make plays to wide open receivers though. No one is going to tell him to NOT throw the ball when there is little risk. And they aren't going to tell him to not open it up when you have to.

The guy cannot see the field and just isn't a NFL QB. I thought they might have a chance with him over these last two years and obviously they thought so, too. It didn't work out. But to lay this at the feet of the coaches entirely is too much conspiracy theory for me and most.

No **** it's football, but at some point you have to recognize a pattern and Romo has now gotten hurt yet again. We'll be lucky to have another year with him. To say that he'll play into his 40's is completely ignorant, but this is the same front office that let DeMarco Murray go because they thought anyone could run behind this line so it wouldn't surprise me.

You obviously have very strong feelings about this. Disagreeing with me is one thing but I'm only sharing what Romo and the FO is telling us so really you are not disagreeing with me but the FO. Romo stated last year he would play another 5 years. If you've heard him state otherwise since then, that would be news to me.

Still, it's foolish to think the guy on his 4th team in 5 years, who was a third stringer at his last stop will be anything better than below average.

We have to prioritize those positions. The depth is obviously dreadful at QB and WR. Unless Michael is legit, we have no RB worth a damn.

Wait, so RBs matter now? Well how about that. In the offseason it just didn't matter who ran the ball.

True about him and his field vision. Not laying it entirely at the feet of the game planning, but I suspect we will see the same things out of Cassel and if so, it won't be a conspiracy theory anymore.

Cassel will do just as good as Weeden if we call plays the same way.

You can't do what we are doing offensively and have success.

This isn't the NBA where the team with the best 5 guys wins.

22+ guys line up every Sunday and the chess side of football is more important than ever.

I'm still in the camp that RB's don't matter and situations do.

I just never imagined our coaches could just be so arrogant and think they could just tell defenses when and where we are running the football.

I bet Will McClay is pretty frustrated right now with the coaches and the dynamics of how they do things because they are making him look bad.
