How much better would we be with Faneca at LG instead of Kosier?

He's a FA next year and probably won't be back in Pittsburgh.

Would make that big of a difference in the running game over Kyle?

I'm wondering the same thing too-but after breaking the bank on Davis, can we really afford to break the bank on another OL?

While I agree... I think we need some more help on that line.... we are a pass blocking line. Not much running in the no lanes zone

I would say... if not for Flo.... how would he hold up?

Good point. Flo is a fa this year as well if I remember right. So we will be spending big bucks to keep him. If so, we may not be able to spend much on Faneca since as boysboy said, we already spent a ton on Bigg.

If we sign Fanaca, then we probably let Flo go. You can't have that much money on a line with the talent we have at other positions. The Chiefs tried it and they paid for it on their defense and receiving core.

I think Koiser is probably the weak link, but he's no slouch.

Yeah... I expect that we will sign Flo.
Kosier is a serviceable plus type player.

Status quo on the line this year.. I would guess.

You're probably right. Just day dreaming a bit though.

Kosier is solid and continuity on the line is important. Id stay status quo especially if we are going to have a new LT next year.

Part of the reason is Julius-he's vision is POOR and is SLOW to find the holes.

I don't mind Kosiar-yeah, he's not GREAT, but I like his meanness and intensity, nonetheless.

have you seen julius make a cut back run the entire year? you watch good backs and you see a cut back run for big gains every game. this requires good peripheral vision to be able to see these lanes. marion does it. julius has ZERO vision! please get over the reality of it.

I've got a soft spot for Kosier (Fork 'em), but I don't see any point in replacing him with Faneca. I do expect we'll let Flo walk this offseason, unless he's willing to come back for a 1-2 year deal at a reasonable price, which would be a foolish decision for him at this point in his career. I doubt we want to consider replacing the whole left side of the line.

Faneca already is 31 years old, and Kosier is under contract through 2010 at reasonable cap numbers.

Also, according to STATS LLC, Kosier allowed 3.5 sacks this season (his lowest in any season as a starter), compared to 6.25 for Faneca (his highest since his rookie season in 1998). Perhaps Kosier is settling into his position (he moved around a lot earlier in his career), while Faneca is beginning to hit the later stages of his career? Maybe, maybe not.

Considering that Kosier is a solid player, is two years younger than Faneca and is undoubtedly cheaper (not even considering the cost of carrying both or getting rid of Kosier), I'd be hesitant to replace him with Faneca at this point. I certainly wouldn't make it a priority.

I've seen most of the Steeler games this year and let me tell you that Faneca didn't have a real good year, I'm wondering at his age if he not starting to slip. He might go to Arizona to be with Russ Grimm.:star:

I would hate to lose Adams to FA but we do need to remember that he turns 33 next year. Despite all those false start penalties, he's done a good job protecting Romo's blindside which makes him extremely valuable. Realistically Adams won't agree to any 2-3 year deal cause he believes he can get a better deal elsewhere. The only option would be to franchise him but that would certainly cause resentment on his part and would cost us around $10M (just a guess). Besides, do we want an unhappy Adams protecting Romo?

It all comes down to how much faith do the Cowboys have in Doug Free. He certainly looked pretty good in TC last year before he got hurt. Assume the coaching staff has had plenty of opportunity to watch him in practice during the season and know if he improved his run blocking to go with his pass blocking. It's risky to rely on Free but then there is also McQuistan to challenge Free if necessary.

The decision re what to do about Adams will be a tough one for Jerry. Have no doubt he wants keep Adams around but do we have the cap money to keep all those players we need to keep while perhaps adding 1-2 FAs who can help us out.

I'd like us to develop our young guys instead of spending money on age.

No more FA's over the age of 30 ... esp on the OL.

Get young, hungry bucks who are cheap and will play their hearts out.

Our line will be better once we get Houck as our new coach. He will ensure that we are more agressive on the OL
