Kyle Orton Waived

I think he'll be a good back up but what is his salary? I'm guessing a starter salary?
His salary is high, but that can be renegotiated.

We will never see him IMO. If he has to hit the wire, then there are multiple teams who would probably lay in a claim. If he is an UFA, then why would he sign here? He has no chance of starting so it's in his best interests to go somewhere that he can have a shot at starting.

I would take him as a back up in a heart beat. I just have a feeling he will get another shot to start somewhere.

I really thought Minn made a bad decision not trying to pick him up this off season. He was a much better option than McNabb. With their running game and defense they could of been a playoff team in my opinion.

I haven't checked it, but I heard the Texans have priority over the Bears on claims.

He should go to Kansas City. As bad as they've been, they're still only 2 games out of a completely winnable division in the AFC West. He could step in and start right away, and he'd probably love to stick it to the Broncos. I imagine Haley runs a similar offensive terminology to Josh McDaniels coming from the same tree.

If hes willing to sign as a backup, go get him. Guy is underrated IMO and always has been.

He'll be a Bear before the ink gets cold on his release IMO. The Bears can offer him a playoff capable team and a starting position. Nobody else can. If he were able to take the Bears deep into the playoffs, he would almost certainly make more money next year in FA. JMO

Bears or Texans seem like natural landing spots for Orton.

Orton is good enough to be starting for some team in the league. It boggles me why they had Tebow starting over him.

If he has to go through waivers, I hope Dallas claims him simply to keep him away from the Bears. They may find themselves fighting with the Bears for the last playoff spot. Let Kitna go, make McGee the backup until Orton is up to speed, and keep Chicago hirting at QB.

the same can be said for the Texans, as far as playoff capable team. Their only issue this season has been injuries to key offensive players.....foster, johnson, and now schaub. even with all of this, they are atop their division with a strong shot at the playoffs and a possible 1st round bye.

Don't hate me for this, but I'd take him as a backup. I like the guy. Kitna is retiring at the end of this year and has a hurt back.

I'd give Kitna an injury settlement and bring Orton in as insurance.
I'd take him too. Todd Archer talked about signing him in one of his articles and he made a good point about keeping him away from the bears. Also, because he's a free agent this year and he signs with another team and starts for them next year, we should be receiving a nice compensatory pick in the draft...That's if we sign him this year.

The guy's everything you want out of a backup, but he's good enough to get a starting job somewhere. I think he goes to Chicago.

Bears would be idiots not to sign Orton. They don't strike me as an idiotic franchise so I believe he'll be a Bear by the end of the month.

Orton would be the best backup QB in the league.
