we got to have a better option. I rather see the rookie wilson or something. Wilber did make one nice play finally but he sucks, especially in space. Just make him a passrushing DE lol.

Wilber is fine. He's playing SAM. His job is to contain the edge and cover the flat. Which he did just fine. The SAM position isn't nearly as important as the other two backers because often times we'll bring Church and play him at linebacker level.

You realize he is playing the least important position of the 22, right?

Now this is the kind of breakdown I would personally find more value in texbumthelife. Just saying.... I thought Wilbur did fairly well but your breakdown magic might tell a different story.

I'll get on it tomorrow. Defense is actually where majority of my experience lies. It's where I played and what I generally write about.

I actually thought Hitchens was the lber that did not play up to expectations...thought he was a step slow and did not wrap up well

I think the linebackers in general were solid. In the B- to B range.

Hitchens made a great play striping the ball, on the opening drive* IIRC, but the guys knee touched the ground a half second before.

He actually looked quicker out there and made a few plays. I was impressed on his improvement but the guy is a hybrid LB/DE so naturally he can be a liability in coverage...

He's a 2nd year guy that basically didn't practice all last month.

Players like this will get better as the season goes on but at this point we still have a learning curve.

I think Wilber is really good at SAM, especially on run downs. Very strong at the POA, and his compete level helps him make a lot more plays than his skillset really allows for.

They need to make certain that Wilber doesn't get isolated on Sproles, otherwise I expect good things from him. If Chip gets his matchup (and he will try) you'll pine for the days of Carter covering Woodhead.

Lee was average. Not surprising, since he's an average player.
