Wilber is one of those guys like Hayden who the coaches like for his versatility a lot more than the fans do. They'll probably let him test FA, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were to bring him back on small contracts for a few more years after that, either.

I actually thought Hitchens was the lber that did not play up to expectations...thought he was a step slow and did not wrap up well

Really? Wow. I thought the opposite. He diagnoses quickly, and he brings a load when he gets there. For missing so much time, I was really pleased with what he gave us.

Well, when Ro gets back then he will be on the bench. Hitchens will be the Sam and nickel.

I think many here wanted to keep Durant but he is slightly less fragile than lee. Durant in 2 seasons in Dallas played in 16 games. And he is approaching 30 or is 30 bad combination.

Sean Lee? It what universe are you living that Sean Lee is an average player? Not sure I would want to live there because it would make me feel so inadequate.

I think he must have mistyped what he meant...either that, or someone is just looking for a little attention.

I know I did. I considered him one of the key losses from last season. More significant loss than Murray was, given the money Murray would have demanded to stay.

Rolo seems to be the best of all them. 2 bad he is unpredictable as a bowl of lucky charms.

I thought Wilber did a good job and played great on special teams making 2 good plays getting down field and taking down Harris. Special teams during pre season looked like a disaster not now

I get why people like McClain. He brings an enforcer attitude to the middle and make some great plays. He is not better than a healthy Sean Lee though. Sean Lee does everything at an exceptionally high level. He can cover TE's and RB's, he is heady with tremendous instincts. He can shoot gaps, or beat blockers with speed or technique. He knows when to hold blockers and when to shed. McClain is a homing missile, but his all-around play isn't nearly what Lee's is.

I said it before the season and I will say it again, Sean Lee is the most important person to the improvement of this defense, even ahead of Gregory and Hardy. His versatility as an every down linebacker enables guys like Hitch, Wilber and McClain to a lesser extent, to fill niche roles. He also tandems with Church very, very well, as Lee will hold blockers and allow Church to shoot gaps.

P.S. I haven't gotten to the Wilber breakdown yet. This is my final semester and I am buried with Literature work. I'll try to find time after I work out.

I think Ro and Lee are a potential elite tandem. Should work really well together.

Wilber was fine. He wasn't a problem. Wilson needs some time and we don't need him to be thrown in the fire like Gregory because 1, the talent and 2, the responsibility/learning curve. Sooner or later though he'll get it.

He made some plays while only playing 32% of the snaps. That does not leave a lot of snaps for him to have played poorly.

That's what I was thinking. Looked pretty solid the plays I did see him in.

I agree with that. I just hate that if they play those two, it means Hitch is either on the bench or covering TE's. Looking forward to Lee-Hitch-Wilson next season.

Hitch should get those Sam & nickel downs for now. It will be interesting when Wilson is ready.

Exactly and I don't want Hitch at SAM. I want him at Mike. He is definitely our best option on Nickel though, perhaps even after McClain is back. Ro seems to get a little bit lost and have trouble finding the correct depth when dropping in zone. Hitch seems to be more natural and instinctive there.
