Lack of passing success on First Down's

A large reason why we lost ....imo.
Here's a quick summary of our first down success/failures.

Yards per play below:
Run Right (2,5,2)
Run Middle (6,6,2,2,14)
Run Left (4,1,7,1,2,8)
Passes Completed (8 yards to Thompson, 15 to Witten)

Passes incomplete: 7 including Keyshawn's rainbow.

Average Yards Running:
Right - 3 yards
Middle- 5.6 yards
Left - 3.8 yards

Average Yards Passing
*******2 completions for 9 attempts-an average of 2.5 yards********
7 times...sitting at 2nd and 10. (hard to sustain drives facing 2-10 all the time)
This is what killed us right here.

Average Yards/All First Down Plays
23/73 yards= 3.1 yards.

This made us very predictable on 2/3rd downs.

This is right and I can't stand 2nd and 10, but I do think I know why the Cowboys are trying this so much.

I figure they want to come out a few times and hit a nice 8,9,10 yard pass so they soften up the defense on first down. Too many times the run and the pass have failed on first down this season.

I would just run the ball anyway though. Take the 2-3 yards on first as opposed to nothing and then having to pass on either 2nd or 3rd down.

I thought we ran much more.....I was wrong. It is plain to see that we were not effective at all. Certainly wasn't much "play-action" passing though.

We better get used to the conservative play calling. Parcells dosent want the game put in bledsoe's hands. He preached that all offseason. It sucks because if we dont apply pressure to the opposing defenses the e-girls and giants will eat us alive. I expect the boo birds to be in full affect sunday if the conservative paly calling continues.

He was so quick to put the game into vinny's hands last year who has not as strong an arm or as good decision making skills as Drew. Granted there were injuries that probably got Bill away from doing what he wanted to do but last year we tried to run the ball. When we realized that wasn't working we moved to a more pass oriented offensive style which seemed to work (barring the turnovers) that I believe wouldn't come from drew with the weapons he has and protection he hopefully will get.
