To be fair, the rookie got caught up in Jerry Jones' sales pitch and that is where Jerry is at his best. He'll come in and work hard.

This, jerry jones sold it to collins as him wanting to assemble the best line in history. hes young and excited and got caught up in the moment, i dont have a problem with a kid who is excited to go to work and possibly strive to make this the best OL in history or at least up there with the best of them. he went from being questioned by the police, to not being drafted and then being picked up by the cowboys where jerry put visions of being apart of the best line in history. he did a complete 180 of course he was excited.

But please, continue to pretend you have any idea what I think.

You're as transparent as glass and everybody here knows it. You're the same guy that ranted about us drafting Geoff Swaim.

All roads go back to your hatred for Jerry. Everybody knows it and you can continue to pretend that it's some other reason. But, nobody buys it.

whodathink OLinemen would be touchy.
Give him a break. He's a rookie, he's excited and he meant it as a complament to the existing O line.
But, on the other hand, JUST SHUDDUP AND PLAY!
(I am cranky today because the mission is serving lastovers from supper yestiday and the library opened late and I had to wait for a computer behind a teenager with piercings and saggy pants and a old lady who was talking to herself about her arthritamatism. I thot Farmers Branch had outlawed saggy pants and crazy old ladies)

As usual, we want players to have personalities and not to give the standard, it's a process, we gotta keep working hard line etc until of course they do, then they need to shut their pieholes.

The Cowboys' OL that won several Super Bowls in the 90s was already heralded as the best ever by many.
I'm fairly sure that the guys occupying positions on our current OL are reluctant to diminish all that they did.
No doubt, it was simply innocent comments made by La'el in his enthusiasm generated by his big moment.
It's also very probable Jerry made the same comments during the moments when he hosted them at home.

It's one of the, if not the sole, principal reason he came to Dallas, so it's not surprising he said it.

Well, the Boys aren't going to have the best OL in history without a bunch of hard work - that's a given. So, they are all really on the same page, just expressing it differently. All rookies find out they are rookies without any doubt when they get to Training Camp, and I'm sure when La'el finds out how good Leary played last year he'll know he has to work hardest of them all if he wants to start.

The guy was cheated out of his big moment on draft day. He didn't get all the attention, accolades, interviews and college video footage that those with similar talent got.

So what if he said that. He was excited, heck, I'm excited for him. But now the reality is that he's a rookie and offensive linemen are the best when it comes to humbling rookies.

I'm sure part of it also has to do with the assumption that one of their comrades seems to be expected to just step aside and crawl back the bench. Don't expect his ascention to the starting lineup to be a slam dunk. He still has a lot to learn.

He was a potential first round pick that CHOSE to come here. I hope he turns out to be a great player, and to me, it says a lot that he comes here to an O-line with a ton of talent on it already as opposed to somewhere where he is badly 'needed' and would end up probably being the day one starter.

You won't ever get a complaint from me when a guy shows confidence and swagger and predicts greatness. If the linemen are truly hurt than they can get over it.

I'm thinking La'El needs to buy the #73 off Bernadeau...or just take it from him

I guess we all should have seen this coming. Last year they seriously downplayed any comments about how well they were playing or if they were the best line in the league. This group doesn't like a lot of attention, they want to quietly be the hardest working position group on the team, but they don't particularly like talking about it. For a rookie to talk about being the best in history, I think we all got caught up in the moment, even though we probably believe that potential exists, but I don't think we'll hear Collins talk about that anymore.

Given the circumstances, I don't blame him for sharing that expectation, and that was clearly conveyed to him when the Cowboys recruited him, but yeah, I think you'll only hear that from the media going forward.

I cringed whenever he said it but he probably had Jerry in his ear all evening saying that to him.

Call me crazy, but I want people who aspire to be the best on my team, provided they are willing to put in the work that is necessary to achieve that goal.

I think Collins fits the bill, nicely.

He mentions his OL coach at LSU wanted them to strive to be the best OL in the country in this interview. (2:13)

Nothing to talk about here. That was their whole pitch and after everything that has happened to him and his emotions on high, I don't blame him. Some people strive to just do their job sometimes as little of it just to get by for the paycheck. At least we have a guy who wants to be the best at something. Why take it away from him? Now he has to put in the work and I don't doubt it for one second that we have a guy that just goes about being happy with mediocre effort.
