Simply draft a plug n play LG, an know that LC to LG contingency plan is n your toolkit.

And they may do that. But a lot of fans also think DT and LB should be the draft priorities, so drafting an OG means at least one of those positions may not get addressed the way many feel they should.

the correct move is the non move... if injury forces it for long stretch well they will have to do it but lets just open completion at LG for Martin/Looney/Draftee

two postion swap thing failed in 17 leave this alone.. you will have holes to fill and adjustments at 2 spots instead of one..much easier to find a LG than a RT..plus we need Fleming as swing tackle..period end of story..

All things considered, if the Cowboys have a real shot at him, take the OT Williams from Texas...make it an outright competition for who starts at right tackle. Either would be solid back at left guard, for a season...other wise, I want a defensive tackle in the first round and a trade up and OG in the second round.
The Cowboys might be alright for this year with both Price and Ash signed this year as big boys set to play the 1-tech position on the Dline. If Texas OT/OG Connor Williams is there @ #19th pick, I would get him since he can play both positions, thus allowing La'el to remain at RT and thus solidifying the Oline for years to come. Then use the 2nd round #50th pick on MLB Malik Jefferson, another talented Texas boy. Then use the 3rd rounder and 4th rounders on FS, DT, RB or WR. Use the 5th on LB Jack Cichy (assuming he will heal well from his torn ACL), thus allowing you to plug him in at MLB a year from now and move Malik Jefferson to OLB to relieve Sean Lee once he starts wearing down with age or injuries. Your LB corp will be set (Malik @ OLB, Cichy @ MLB, Jaylon @ OLB) for years to come just like the Oline will with someone like Connor Williams. Then use your 6th rounder on someone like TCU's QB, Kenny Hill. He's another Dak who can make all the throws but is faster/quicker.

LMAO, if they all got to choose their position, they'd all be QB's for the dough. He will play where they tell him to play. I am sure he'd like to stay at RT and he may end up there because they don't have anyone better. And he might be a very good RT and that's a more critical position than LG.

The problem is Martin is going to be the highest paid G and Collins is up right behind him at a T salary. How much of the cap can they afford to let the AOL absorb? Something has to give.

exactly thats why you have to have some regular average players at some positions, LG is much much easier to cover up than a RT..not sure why at this moment even considering the move, lets let the offseason fully play out into Preseason, we will have better idea of how things are going..

We didn't sign Fleming to go fishing.
Flemming replaces Bell and Green as the swing tackle. The LG position will be a battle between Green, Looney, Marcus Martin and hopefully a relatively high draft pick.

true except green, seriously he failed miserably at both spots but he didnt even come close to being the LG last year.. hes a camp body and will be sent packing after we get close to cut downs

Face it, we will have a much better idea after the draft as to whether they are planning to move Collins back to LG or not. If we don't get an OT or OG until the late rounds then that move is going to be much more likely, not definite, but likely.

Was looking for info on Cameron Fleming's potential ability to play left guard and found this quote on him from Belichick in 2016 that I had not seen before:

"(Fleming) is one of our most dependable players," Belichick said Monday. "He is very smart. He works extremely hard. For his size, he works very hard on his conditioning. He really doesn't get tired, at least it doesn't seem like he does. He's right at the top of his group in sprints. Works hard in the weight room, both on strength and flexibility. Does a lot of extra things to try to continue to improve."

Belichick added: "He's quiet, but he's probably one of the most respected players on the team because of his work ethic and his toughness and his dependability. We've asked him to do a lot of different things and play multiple positions--guard, both tackles, the jumbo tight end spot. He works very hard to do all of those and his intelligence is excellent, so he has the capacity to handle a lot of things. But he's a flexible guy and nothing really seems to rattle him. He's got a very even temperament."

Seems like a simple solution to me
And gives us one o lineman not on a second contract

That's fine, but you have to understand there will be a trade off, and drafting a ready to play OG lessens the chance of being able to draft a ready to play DT or LB with a high pick. You may not be one that believes those are critical needs, but many do.

I think you can get a guard in the 3rd rnd

Does he now? So, you're just absolutely positive that Flemming will be given no shot to start.

Yeah, if Green makes the team at this point that means we evaluated the OL poorly.

Sure you can get one in the 3rd round, but waiting that long decreases the chances he will be a plug and play guy. The only way to feel any degree of confidence a rookie will be an immediate upgrade over Looney or Martin is to take one higher than that.

This draft has several good guards and some will be there in the 3rd
