I am all for it. DMac had stats but he didn't have much impact in the game . Miller could a difference maker.

I don't hate it as long as it's at a decent price. He wants Lynch money -which he likely merits- then no thanks.

I still don't get this logic. Lynch could have made an argument he was the best in the league, Miller will have a tough time arguing he is top 10. The situation is not even comparable. The CJ Spiller/Mark Ingram contracts are a better comparasuon than Lynch/Murray. People don't pay running backs anymore unless they are a proven commodity. The contracts Lynch/Murray/McCoy got in the offseason will further drive down the price of quality running backs.

Lol Ajayi didn't make him irrelevant. Campbells inexperience made him irrelevant.

Ajayi had some good runs, but also got stuffed for no yard runs too. Miller is far better receiver between the two. Hell the coaching staff rather of put in Damien Williams over Ajayi on obvious passing downs.

I enjoyed watching JA run, but he is far from being as good as Miller.

I wouldn't go that far, the hesitation to use Miller stretched to the previous coaching staff as well.

Maybe both coaches are dumb or maybe Miller doesn't grasp everything he needs to know to be a feature back in this league. The team has been trying to replace him for awhile (remember, they signed Knowshon Moreno to take his job after his huge year in Denver). Regardless, the fact that the Dolphins refused to feed him the ball will work against him in free agency.

You're going to be disappointed.

Cool, someone wit insider knowledge.

I'm not really expecting them to get Miller so I won't be disappointed there. Only if we pass on the one of the big 3 QBs at #4 will I be disappointed this offseason. Anything else I want them to do/player to get will be gravy if they do that.

Based on comments from the team about the running game last year.

I see where you're coming from; by no hurry, I meant that the front office doesn't seem to believe they need to worry about the position this year. Now, hopefully that's only Jerry talk and the guys he employs are smart enough to see that McFadden's wheels could fall off any second.

Still, it appears to me that they are pleased enough with McFadden as the lead back that they won't consider adding anything more than maybe a mid-round pick to the mix. I hope that's not the case.

Jerry puts a positive spin on everything through his rose colored glasses. But I've never heard him say they were satisfied with last years running game whatsoever. Especially the wopping 3 rushing TD's from McFadden.

So last offseason we let the offensive player of the year walk because we have a philosophy that doesn't pay premium for RBs, but this offseason everyone wants to go out and sign the biggest RB name on the market.

Makes sense

Not the same situation. Murray was 27 and coming off a year with 400 carries. Miller is 24 and is coming off a year with less than 200 carries.

He didn't say he was satisfied with the running game. He said he was satisfied with McFadden being the starting running back. That likely precludes Dallas from paying starting money to someone like Miller.

Both Jerry and Stephen Jones have said they will be looking to add a younger back(s) to the mix, though, but Jerry said he doesn't feel any urgency to add a bona fide back this year because of how McFadden played. (Bona fide is my paraphrase because I can't remember the exact wording he used.)

First of all---Lamar Miller is not the biggest name on the market. Doug Martin, Matt Forte and maybe even Marshawn Lynch are all bigger names. Second of all-----Murray played himself out of the contract we wanted to offer him. Lamar Miller will likely command that 4-5 miller a year we were willing to pay Murray.

Truly, can't believe anything Jerry says, especially this time of the year. It wouldn't be a good look for anyone if he came out and said "we will be in the market for a running back this year".

They said they were fully confident in Weeden as well and then turned around and traded for Cassell.

Jerry usually reveals far more about the team's plans than he should.

Last year, concerning the running back position, he said this: "It's not urgent. It's not urgent in the draft. We don't have that as a must to come out of here with a running back."

Fortunately, he and Stephen don't seem to be saying that they don't want to add a running back this year. They are simply saying that they are satisfied with McFadden as the starter and would be interested in adding a young back or younger backs to pair with him.

I do think they were planning to add a back in the draft last year, it just didn't work out. They literally invited every possible prospect to the complex, that shows you the interest was there.

I hope the team knows that McFadden may be a fine back for us but he can't be relied on as the only back with starter potential on our roster.

Oh! and our coaches are so smart, hey? I doubt we could take any player and turn them into a stud.
