Lamb clears concussion protocol, will play Sunday

I don't know why they don't wrap all the players in bubble wrap and let them play. Aubrey, if and when he gets pissed off at dak, could literally kick him out of the stadium. :D

Huge mistake. My man was throwing up gang signs 8 days ago...and the way concussions work the most recent concussion makes you more susceptible to more concussions with any subsequent to trauma to the head.

Jerry: The show must go on...
Why?

Fencing does not indicate longer recovery times are necessary.

That's according to the "data."

"Independent" - who hires/pays the neurologist?
While I tend to be a proponent of the "follow the money" theory of human motivation, in this context Neurologists are (1) not exactly known for being hard up for $ and (2) highly unlikely to open themselves up to potential significant personal exposure through civil litigation (by misdiagnosing a player) in exchange for whatever they are being paid to conduct these "independent" evaluations.

Moreover, and most importantly, the NFL has already and publicly acknowledged the realities associated with player concussions (only because the medical evidence was so compelling and it was losing in court), and thus I highly doubt the NFL (and NFLPA) would risk significant additional legal (that is financial) exposure by rushing a good (but not exactly the most prominent) WR in the league back to compete in a game between the 6-6-1 Cowboys and the 5-8 Vikings.

Based on what I saw in Detroit last Thursday I am shocked he was able to clear concussion protocol so quickly.

I'm happy he is medically cleared and isn't suffering more effects. But, as @OGSixshooter said, he could become more susceptible to future concussions. I hope not and I hope CeeDee is gonna be good.

TBIs shouldn't be taken lightly. His hand movements at the time of impact showed symptoms of neurological damage. Typically I'd defer to the neurologist but this team has a history of rushing players back from injury. Not saying he shouldn't play, especially if he agrees with the docs assessment, but I'm a little concerned considering this happened just over a week ago.

You know the team has no influence on the concussion protocol process, right?

Players are evaluated by independent neurological consultants. They do not work for the team.

Do you honestly think that you know more about concussions than a real-life neurologist? You may feel like you have "done your research" on the topic, but you didn't go to school, earn a medical degree, and intern on numerous rotations to achieve your knowledge. You just googled something.

Hard to speak on this subject, I'll let the "professionals" handle that and if he can play let it be. All we can do is be a fan of the players decision.

Dr. Jerry did say he is excited to still have a shot in this thing. SMDH

Giving Lamb extra game of rest and analysis would be being extra careful for his health. The FO is more concerned with migraines than concussions.

i hope for his good health. i dont think i would let him play. regardless of him being cleared.

No, I don't think I know more. That's why I cited what EXPERTS have said about concussions...not about what one BODY PAID BY A TEAM SAYS.

I also cited the example of Tua - very similar to what CeeDee showed the fencing posture - and how he was rushed back and then had another concussion.

READ...carefully.

Google Gemini:

Why you're at higher risk:
  • Altered Brain Chemistry: A concussion causes chemical changes, leaving your brain temporarily unbalanced and prone to further damage.
  • Increased Susceptibility: The brain becomes more vulnerable to subsequent impacts, which can occur with less force and cause more severe symptoms.
  • Cognitive Changes: You might be less attentive or have impaired balance and focus, increasing your risk of another fall or impact.

Dangers of a Second Impact (Second Impact Syndrome):
  • This rare but catastrophic condition happens if a second blow occurs before the first concussion has healed.
  • It causes rapid, severe brain swelling, leading to permanent disability, paralysis, or death.

What to do after a concussion:
  • Rest: Allow your brain adequate time to heal.
  • Medical Clearance: Get cleared by a doctor before returning to sports or high-risk activities.
  • Avoid Re-injury: Stay away from strenuous activity and anything that could risk another head impact.

Long-term concerns with repeated concussions:
  • Each subsequent concussion can have more severe symptoms and longer recovery times.
  • Repeated head impacts increase the risk for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and other brain diseases.

You're not wrong about there being the APPEARANCE of independence...so I'm gonna give you that. But in reality, Daboll is FIRED for walking up to the tent and urging a doctor to put Dart back in the game if this were truly about the player. They are not running a free medical practice with independent doctors...they are aligned to a business whose best interest is to put the player back on the field unless THEY MUST refuse.

Well, that changes the bar for what "cleared" looks like, doesn't it?

Who pays the "medical staff"? You guys have just started watching the NFL.

And again, not one of you countered the MAIN point: One concussion makes you more likely to get another...so..."cleared" be damned...I know what I saw and what has happened when players - like Tua - return too early.

They were warned and ignored it...and it seems many of you are drinking the koolaid.
NFL players are cleared from concussion protocol by independent, " unaffiliated neurotrauma consultants" (UNCs) hired jointly by the NFL and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), not the individual teams, ensuring impartiality.

seems its not the owner

CeeDee not only did that BUT it's not his first concussion...in other words...he's prone.

Now...maybe Irvin was too...but he had smelling salts. So, it's not an automatic death sentence and it's not as though this hasn't been going on for years...

...but the "data" also shows that everyone doesn't recover and some people experience lifetime damage. The only way to MITIGATE that damage is to allow for recovery.

And lest you guys think I'm shooting from the hit, let me give you a quick primer on what actually happens:

1. Every cell in your body is replaced except for a few things: The hair in your ears, the lense over your eyes and the NEURONS in the brain. Neurological brain damage is not easily "fixed".

2. A concussion is often a rush of energy - a blow to the head - flooding the brain and killing neurons.

3. There must be time for recovery or you will make your self susceptible to MORE DAMAGE.

This is science...not "taking the word" of the NFL because they threw BS in front of you. Now...maybe an independent doctor looked at him and said, "We'll take the risk...", but it is still a HUGE RISK.
