if we're being honest beckham isn't that great anyway. he's a good player no doubt but to me he isn't the same player he was 5-10 years ago. even then he wasn't as good a player as he was made out to be. one of the best dead ball specialists in world football and has magnificant crossing ability but for a wide midfielder he doesn't get up and down the line enough and can't really beat a man, if he's playing centrally then i would question his defensive abilities. for me paul scholes is and was a better player than beckham and thats without even going outside of the team beckham broke through at. if it wasn't for his looks and marriage he wouldn't be as high profile a player in my opinion. if it wasn't for his looks and marriage he wouldn't be as high profile a player in my opinion. the reason beckham has made the money he has and is even in america is because of the beckham brand more than his actual ability on a football pitch.

Yea, I think a lot of that is true and readily known even here in America. But we still didn't have anyone who had the stature to call him out on his dogging it here in the US, so it's nice that maybe we do now.

Other than that he isn't all that.

This is in part true, but even now, I wouldn't pick one player from the Scottish national team to replace his role on the bench for England.

But he never had the pace to do that, and with his ability to cross a ball doesn't need it

Don't get me wrong, Paul Scholes is a fantastic player, but he too has his flaws, like the fact he still can't tackle properly and he still can't control that wild streak (how many Red & Yellow cards does he get),

It is definitely true that he & his wife have marketed themselves very well to maximise their talents.

Lets be fair, the real reason Beckham wants out of the Galaxy is that the Football there is nowhere near the standard that he needs to be playing at to have any chance of getting into the England squad.

i didn't suggest we had any players better than beckham, although i would argue that if craig gordon was english he'd get a game in front of david james, thats besides the point though we are a nation of 5 million people whereas you have what 60 million? you should have better players than us simply through the size of population. i said that beckhams crossing is right up there with the best and while i agree to an extent that it makes up for his lack of ability to go by a man i think if beckham could could go by defenders then he would have deserved to have been talked about the way he has been. agree that scholes has his flaws but if given a straight choice between the two on a soley footballing basis ie not taking into consideration the money the club would make from merchandising the move i would take scholes every time. and yes its fairly obvious the main reason beckham wants out of the mls is to play at a higher level where he has a better chance of making the squad for 2010.

Darren Fletcher is a better player than Beckham now (not Beckham in his prime, but the present-day version.)

maybe for man utd but hes usualy rotten for us. in saying that i think next season when kevin thomson from rangers should establish himself as our first choice defensive midfielder i think fletcher might start reproducing his club form for his country playing in the centre of midfield with scott brown. with two from commons, morrison, maloney and macfadden on the flanks thats actually a reasonable midfield if we could just come up with someone better than kenny misser up front

Haven't seen him much for Scotland, but he was immense for United last season. He was their best midfielder IMO (Ronaldo was a striker for all intents and purposes.)

beckham has responded to donovan criticising him in the media over his alleged unprofesionalism. he has claimed that donovan was unprofesional for speaking to the media rather than confronting him. he also added that he had not yet spoken to donovan.

is it just me or has he just done the exact thing he is criticising donovan for?

reminds me of the old joke about beckham being delighted about completing a jigsaw in only two weeks. when asked why he was so pleased he replied " i did it in two weeks, it says on the side of the box 2-4 years"

Oh we have a channel that is dedicated to Soccer 24 hours a day.

IF there is a soccer match on then its on the Fox Soccer Channel.

This upcoming year should be a great year in soccer. Im just upset my boy KaKa is playing alongside Ronaldo.

I wish Milan would've kept him.
