Ok Larry Allen, Will Shields of the Kansas City Chiefs & Hastings center from the steelers restructured his contract too. So, Larry Allen, with TO signing, maybe getting Keyshawn back=maybe, then that would make teams not blitz so much of getting burned by TO, Terry Glenn, Keyshawn if he comes back, and Jason Witten, that will also open up the running game. Making it easier for you to block too Larry Allen. So, will you help out the Cowboys Larry Allen, so you can stay with the team, and maybe go to the super bowl this year too. Also help our young offensive linemen too. joe

Shields and Hastings still play at a high level.

I'd rather cut LA.

that kind of thinking ruins a team. this is a sport where nostalgia gets you nowhere.

I understand, and agree Larry Allen is getting up in there in age. Yet, I view Larry Allen like Nate Newton in football ability alone. Remember Nate Newton was 34 too, and we went to super bowl with him. Sure, sometimes Nate missed his blocks, got tired etc. Yet, in that memorable game with Packers, when we came back to win in 4th quarter. Nate Newton said, were coming after your *** Packers in 4th quarter on tape. And they did it.

See to me, you can let Larry Allen play, he still can dominate 2-3 games a year, let Stephen Peterman spell him some. You also have Kosier to rest Marco Riveria too. Then, after resting Larry Allen some, he can come back into game rested all nasty and mean, and open up holes for running game.

I too was thinking about Larry Allen at center too, no nose tackle or defensive tackle is going to push him back. Yet, its too late I am thinking for him to play center. Besides reports are that Al Johnson has put on some weight, working hard in weight room too. Now if Guornde can do the same, and get his head on straight, look out, we will have experience backup at guard and center too.

Only thing I am worried about is right tackle. I still think in time Petti can be the guy. I have high hopes for him. Maybe Columbo can help out Petti too. Tucker I am not sure about, if he doesnt work out this year in offseason & get in shape, I really dont want him.

We need to keep LA. Its a must for this team. Even at his age he is still better then anyone else we have to play guard.

We lose him and our Oline is a downgrade instead of an upgrade in the offseason.

How is that an argument for keeping LA?

Well this might be a stretch, but this signing, coupled with a few key
additions, might just be the motivation to get Larry to restucture.

I really don't think we want him to restructure. I think we want him to retire.

What is the latest on T.O.....I am a Cowboy fan in Philly here....I watched him play enough to realize he is easily the best receiver in football when he is on the same page with his QB....I heard that report that he signed, but they rescinded it real quick.....

Also, what kicker does it look like we will end up with ...any veteran kicker will be an ugrade for us at this point.....

Thanks,
Dallas Dave

There are like 50 TO threads on this board.

Leave our Larry Allen thread alone.

I have heard that we have 2 kickers we are looking at.

First, Josh Brown from the Seattle Seahawks. He would cost up above $725,000 a year, or so, thats what the Seahawks tendered him at. If we sign him for more, we have to give up a 7th round draft choice, if the Hawks dont match the offer. He is real good at kickoffs, and remember he kicked a 55 yarder against us last year.

The other kicker is Vanderjack, or however you spell him name, he is suppose to come in Monday. Personally I dont like him, since he said what he did about Peyton a few years back. Also, remember he missed that crucial field goal in the playoffs last year. Hope that helps you.

I think if u bring in MeO u are going to need LA to keep him in check!!! I would like to see LA take less money this year but only if he has to!!! If MeO comes in I think that will motivate LA like u wouldnt beleive... and yes he needs to be subbed at times early on in the season to keep him fresh for the "back 9"...

Yes, he is far better than everyone else at standing with his hands on his hips while Drew is sacked.

Try watching the games Taz.

IMO, he'd fit best at center:

- His career would last longer
- He would always get his hands on a defender
- He would almost never have to pull and run in space
- He would never be bullrushed backwards into Bledsoe
- He could be the only player in history to go to the pro bowl at 5 different OL positions

The downsides:
- He still has to restructure
- Shotgun snaps would be tough to learn
- He's too manly to allow another man to touch his butt

It's all but a done deal. Vanderjagt is supposed to come in Monday.

I like restructuring Allens contract as well. L.A. will be fine with Flo by his side and a great center. He still doesn't give up sacks (believe it or not) and 3 or 4 times a game, he will flatten someone like road kill. I also think we need to draft a big guard, LA and company can't play forever.
