Do you all believe Larry Allen will restructure to finish his career with the Cowboys, or do you think the signing of Fabini means he is going to be let go?

What would Fabini have to do with Allen? Oh, and yes, I think he'll restructure.

Fabini plays RT and Larry Allen plays LG. Hardly a replacement.

The ONLY thing I can figure that he may figure Fabini has anything to do with Allen going is that it was a sign that Kosier was without a doubt not signed to possibly fill in at RT instead of OG.

Back to the topic at hand.

Larry is a prideful person and I think he would probably move on.

It really has nothing to do with the money itself as I think his wife got a great deal of money from something a couple years back.

I think it would be a pride thing.

I wish he would restructure and who knows maybe he would shock us all and do that, but chances are he will not.

Allen was moved to tackle for a good portion of last season wasn't he? I know guard is his natural position.

Uh, no. He played the entire season at LG and a 6th round rookie named Rob Petitti played RT.

The thing is that LA is overpaid at $7.5M cap figure this year. That is Pro Bowl LT type money - not above average LG money.

His abilities do not mesh well with all the other interior OL on the team - Kosier, Al J and Rivera are smaller guys who need to play in space to be effective but this is what LA cannot do.

The best scenario is that we keep LA around at a markedly reduced price for one more year for depth purposes and then part ways amicably next year. I really doubt that he will accept this plan which means it will be up to BP and JJ to decide whether it is better to keep him at in inflated salary or dump him and find depth through the draft or FA.

I've read that Allen has played both positions...if not last year then at some point in his NFL career.

Early in his career. He hasn't played there for some time. He has nowhere near the required mobility anymore.

Agreed. It's hard to say what Larry will do. He may opt to take more money, or he may opt to reduce his contract and plays it out with the boys and hope to win one last superbowl here. Or they may let him play at his current salary....... we have the cap space to do it.

He's been an All Pro at 3 of the OL positions. He's been at LG for several seasons now without changing from it. Perhaps in his prime the most dominant O-lineman of all time.

It's time to cut the cord with LA, no reason to throw more money away!! It's time to move on, it's 2006 not 1996!!!!!

Personally, I think Larry Allen has got to go. If Kozier takes some of his playing time or eventually replaces him due to LA's lack of mobility, I think it could be a real stink. LA is quiet, but we've seen his attitude...he's a prideful man...I'm not sure he'll want to stay and compete for the position that has been handed to him for so long.

If he chooses to stay and compete, it will be a good thing for the team regardless of whether he wins the spot or not.

Of course, his pride will get hurt no matter what he does because he isn't a top player any longer...no team is going to give him top money. I wonder if Seattle will have any interest in him after letting Hutchinson go...it would be a huge dropoff, but they might go for it.

Larry would be foolish not to restructure he needs to retire a Cowboy and not make the mistake of going somewhere else.

Can we just cut this guy already and move on. Clinging to the past doesn't get you anywhere in the NFL. All it gets you is old players who can't get it done anymore.

Amen....but I'd keep him around for 1 more year at 3 million.
