Last Sunday at Cowboys Stadium

My son recently opened a checking account with Bank of America, for doing it they sent him 2 tickets to an exclusive event at the Stadium. Lucky for me he asked me to go with him. Thanks Dallas (his name) !

So we get there not knowing what to expect other than a tour and maybe some good photo ops. WOW did we get a surprise. They gave us a schedule of events that included autograph signings from Rayfield Wright, Drew Pearson, Larry Brown, Chad Hennings, Jay Novacek and Bill Bates.

They also gave us 4 food vouchers good for our choices of food and drink while this event went on. I thought the food was good, I never buy it during a game so I was glad to give it a try.

There were also a couple of cheerleaders signing stuff and taking pictures with fans but we passed on that because....WE got to get down on the field where they had it set up to throw, punt and kick field goals !!
Of course my son beat me in distance on throwing and punting.

I did kick a 25 yard field goal thru the west end goal posts !!
Got our picture taken on the star , sat on the bench, just generally had the run of the place. This thing lasted 4 hours so we were in no hurry.

Toured the stadium, went in a suite, the Cowboys locker room. There are 2 HD Tv's in the Boys locker room for reviewing plays during halftime, there is a dry erase board in the visitors locker room ! haha

Took this just to show all the cable trays that run around the stadium. There are over 3000 TV's in the stadium and each of them has their own IP address, over 20,000 data ports and plan to add more before the Super Bowl is there. Redundant cabling for everything in case of problems.

They still had the college field down but had put the center piece in so the Star would be there. Note the difference in hash marks.

So needless to say when i got home to watch the game I was pumped.
Hated the way that game turned out but I had a great day and my son did too. Thanks again Dallas !

i forgot to mention a part of the story.

my son is 25, grew up loving Bill Bates and read his book in the 90's.

in that book Bates talked about his youth league team, The Headhunters.

while getting his autograph I asked him if he ever played for a team called the
Headhunters and you should have seen his face just LITE UP !!!

you could tell he was as proud of being on that team, which got its name from being a hard hitting bunch as anything.

as for the field goal I made, my limit is 26.5 yards and I kick it straight on, old school style. sadly i realize that a 25 yd field goal occurs when the line of scrimmage is the stinking 7 yd line !

Sweet stuff. That must have been way better than any tour or anything like that to just be able to do what you want haha. I'd kill to try and hit the scoreboard with a punt.

My son's jealous. We got to go on the field for our tour, but he REALLY wanted to try to kick a field goal. That would have been awesome!
