A couple late round qb's I wouldn't mind drafting are Jeff Rowe and Jared Zabransky.

A big ol' left hander with a cannon of an arm... on the downside, he makes Drew Bledsoe look like Carl Lewis... Flozell Adams could probably run a faster 40... Toby will be the quintessential statue in the pocket, if he's gonna be successful he'd better have a real good pass blocking line in front of him...

The main difference I see in him and Bledsoe is that he has a quick release.

I don't mind a statue as long as it doesn't come complete with ball in hand when the defense arrives.

The kid has great accuracy, that quick release and doesn't make a lot of bad decisions.

Strengths:
Has prototypical size...Was extremely productive...Team captain who shows some leadership ability...Tough, strong and relatively durable considering the beating he took at times behind a sub par offensive line...Accurate with good touch when he's not being pressured...Still has some upside...A lot of his weaknesses can be addressed with good coaching...You can't ignore the family history and pedigree.

Weaknesses:
Throws way too many interceptions...Field vision is questionable and he will force throws...Technique and mechanics are inconsistent and need a lot of work...Does not stand up to pressure well...Is not very mobile and will not hurt defenses with his feet...Arm strength is adequate but not special...He might be too easy going.

Notes:
Brother of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who won the Heisman Trophy and is a former #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft...Nickname is "J.P."...Is not nearly the prospect that some make him out to be and a lot of that has to do with his bloodlines...Certainly has some physical tools to develop and he could thrive in the right situation but it's too much to expect him to be as good as his brother is.

Draft Scout Jordan Palmer News
03/09/07 - Pro day: Palmer only participated in the passing drills. He is a projected third-to-fifth round selection in the April 28-29 NFL draft. Not that he would know it. "I might be the only guy in the country who can honestly say that he hasn't looked at the Internet," Palmer said. "I haven't heard anything. My family knows, but I don't want to hear about it. So many people tell you so many different things. On draft day, I want to be fired up about where I go and when I (get picked). It's all in God's hands. I know I've worked hard, and on draft day, I'm going to be playing 36 holes. I'm not watching the draft. I'll just wait for a phone call." - El Paso Times

02/25/07 - NFL COMBINE: Palmer was a dead ringer for his older brother, Carson, from the way he looked, to the way he ran, to his polished throwing motion - right down to his No. 9 combine sweatshirt. His throws were increasingly precise, and he was one of the few quarterbacks to hit consecutive receivers in stride with effortless throws in the go-route drill. He also stood out because at 6-6, he's the tallest quarterback at the combine. Palmer had a few rough spots early. He had the midfield spot in the gauntlet drill - alternating with Idaho State's Matt Gutierrez - and twice threw bad balls to receivers sprinting across the field. One pass was high, and the other was a blink late. Other than that, he looked good. His best pass might have been the deep ball to LSU's Dwayne Bowe, who ran a long post corner with a double move in the middle. The ball traveled 40 yards in the air, and the Palmer-to-Bowe connection looked so natural it was as if the two were longtime teammates. -- Sam Farmer, LA Times, PFWA

01/23/07 - Senior Bowl South Team Tuesday Practice Report: Jordan Palmer, likewise, can impress you with his strong arm, but his passes, when seemingly on target, often force the receivers to stop, reach, or otherwise slow down their progression to make the reception, limiting the effectiveness of the play. Palmer also threw at least one interception, a toss over the middle that lacked enough touch to get over linebacker Patrick Willis. Willis, who made an impressive read on the play, picked it off cleanly and likely would have returned the pass for a touchdown.
