Guys:

Got latest Ourlads Mock today as follows:

Bush
Hawk
Leinart
Ferguson
Williams
Huff
Davis
Bunkley
Allen
Cutler
Greenway
Wimbley
Young
Justice
Jackson
Holmes
Hill
#18: Cowboys: Whitner
Williams
Lawson
Jackson
Joseph
McNeill
Ngata
Sims
Cromartie
White
Carpenter
Williams
Maroney
Joseph
Mangold

Thoughts? I can't see Hawk going #2. I also don't think the Cowboys will take a safety at 18. It could happen, but I think we are looking for a pass rusher or an OT.

I could actually see Hawk going anywhere in the Top 10. Hawk, might intrigue Gary Gibbs, add to the fact that the Saints already have a QB in Brees and two starting DE's in Smith and Grant. I actually see them either getting Ferguseon or Hawk if they dont trade down.

Give me pick number and first names and I'll give you thoughts...this requires too much interpretation.

If we do take a safety, it would be Jimmy Williams over Whitner IMO.

Ngata's stock seems to be sliding a bit...

Whitner's a Buckeye and I wouldn't mind at all having him on my team...But I think that's too High For him to go.

I could see them passing on Williams only because of his attitude and problems, plus the idea he is a type of player that can make great plays but at the same time gambles too much and can get burned regularly because of it.

However in that mock I just can not see them taking this safety and passing on Ngata if he fell.

Ngata is the only NT I would feel ok with drafting in the first.

I think he is too good of a player to fall that far but if he did fall that far I think we would take him if we found no trade down offers we liked.

I remember when Wilfork fell a couple of years ago to the Pats. If I remember correctly, Wilfork was projected to be taken in the early teens.

Maybe we get lucky? :)

That actually came to my mind as I was typing the other post.

I have no proof or inside info to suggest it but I really think if the pats did not scoop up wilfork before us we would have taken him.

I think the cowboys want someone to backup Fergs right now, since we are so shallow in that area and if, what seems like, a great prospect falls to us in that area I just don't think they would pass on it.

If Vince Young is available at 13.......... trade up and get his ***. Worth the gamble at that pick.

I totally agree. Hawk is a good enough player to be a #1 pick in a bad year. But I think Ferguson will be a 5 time probowler and at LT that's hard to pass up. Especially if you're NO and you just traded away your probowl LT. Ferguson would give them bookend tackles for the next...long time.

I felt exactly the same way. I really believe we would have taken Wilfork instead of trying to "groom" players like Willie Blade, for example. :bang2:

because he would help us win this year wouldn't he? or next year?
see my sig below....

Whitner would be a disaster in the first round, he's not a first round talent. Hard to describe how unimpressive he was IMO.
Whitner isn't even a top 3 S, maybe not top 5 IMO.
Some real retards putting him in for us at 18.

Ngata will not fall that far. He is projected somewhere in the top 8 - no way does he fall farther then 12-15 unless something comes up on him.

Carp at 28? Trade down and get him. Put it this way.....

Carp + 3rd > Whitner.

Big time.

I don't think Carpenter will be there at 28. Carpneter alone is greater than Whitner. Dallas should just take the linebacker they want at 18 and not get greedy. I have a feeling there will be a long run at linebackers after Dallas picks.

I really dont think he's going top-8, I dont even think he's going to be the first DT taken

I really wouldnt be all that surprised if he were there at 18

A few years back we tried unsucessfully to trade up for DeWayne Robertson.

The Hurricanes coach was quoted as saying that Bill Parcells told him Wilfork was a player to build a defense around. I'm sure we'd have picked him if the Pats hadn't.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that VR were targetting Ngata as our first pick.

Like what, bad knees?

Check.

I think it's very possible Ngata drops not only to us, but PASSED us.

Hell, Carp > Whitner. Big time. The 3rd would just be icing on an incredibly awesome cake.
