Law of Uncertainty

I think it is time for me to do this.

There is a natural law to the universe that I like to call the Law of Uncertainty. If you look at time as a timeline, (I'm not going to go into physics or anything) you can map every event in time on that timeline.

The Law of Uncertainty reads as follows "If you change any event at a point in time, then every event after that is effected."

One thing to remember, I didn't say that every event on after that is changed, but everything IS effected.

How does this relate to football, well, if we use the Ellis vs. Moss debate as an example. (I DON'T want this thread to have any bickering over the trade, its just an example) If we had drafted Moss instead of Ellis, then every draft following would have changed. Our draft position would have changed the following season, changing the draft position of almost everyone else due to the fact that every game that season would have been effected. Because the draft positions change, the drafted players would all change. This would change the make-up of every team, which would effect the following season, effecting free agency, effecting draft position and drafted players and so on. Now, this change could have been for the better, we don't know. It also could have been worse, we don't know.

Thats the whole point we don't know what one little change can make. Therefore it is entirely useless to continue to dwell on what has happened in the past. We Don't Know

Good point and this is why I am disdainful of "What if" threads...especially as related to past events.

BTW your "Law of Uncertainty" is also known as the "Chaos Theory" or the "Butterfly Effect". It has been studied quite extensively using mathematics and according to the studies you are right. Change any little thing and everything thereafter is altered or affected in some way.

Well, I really didn't have to use mathematics to study, I used common sense :D

Excatly if we draftd mosswe problay wouldnt ahve gotten BP has a HC roy Williams as a SS, JJ as our RB, witten as our TE, henry newman and glenn as our CB's, we problay would have gotten AB, maybe not eve ross, all the guys we fight over or love over would not be here if we drafted moss, i'll take elllis JJ, BP,Witten, Roy, etc. over Moss anyday of the week.

See thats the thing, it would be over Moss and unkown other players.

And this thread wasn't about Ellis vs Moss, I was just it as an example.

But you see...you chose to use Ellis and Moss as your example so now that is interjected into your thread as a major topic. Had you chosen to use the possibility of trading Aikman and keeping Walsh back in 1990 it would have gone in that direction probably but would likely have stayed more on track. It's just more of your "Law of Uncertainty" ;)

Certainly signing Galloway had more effect on the draft than signing Ellis. That we do know.

But you see that is exactly Enigma's point. Had we drafted Moss instead of Ellis maybe we would not have been desperate for a WR and would never have signed Galloway. Then who would we have gotten with those two 1st round draft picks? We Don't Know :

EXACTLY! because then we would be in salary cap hell again, or he would have moved on. We would have still had glaring needs at most other positions, and he did not take the Vikings to the SB, so he most likely wouldn't have for us either.

But then again hindsight is 20-20
