Pulled this blurb from Mosley blog... Read it twice before it clicked... Haven't seen anything else written about this and not sure if it's situational-only.
He did provide some levity, though. Asked to name his favorite receiver, Romo didn't hesitate before saying Oliver Hoyte, who's recently been moved from linebacker to fullback.

"He can do some things in the
passing game," Romo deadpanned.

I don't think its a permanent move, just for short yardage situations since he isn't going to be needed to play lb this year but he still can be active on STs. They also tried Fowler at FB too.

Can anybody else see Parcells not appreciating Romo's sense of humor and telling him to shut up?

If he can play reserve LB, short yardage FB and be a special teams ace he's going to make a nice little career for himself.

I can see Parcells telling people to shut up even when they're not saying anything.

When they brought back Glymph, there was mention of a # change for Hoyte.... though DC.com seems to still have him listed at 53.. But I thought he is not 46? I don't recall until the game this past monday that Hoyte was lining up in mostly short yardage situations.. I can't really recall his blocking in that game.

I think Hoyte was in there when Drew threw that pick, but not sure. I remember, since I am a State fan, thinking what in the world is he doing back there.

Like someone else mentioned, if Hoyte can make himself one of those "satellite" players who can do a little bit of everything, he's going to hang around for a while.

I just can't believe they didn't move Carpenter to FB! Do you need any more evidence that our first round draft pick is a bust?? ;)

In Parcells world, if your not a starter - you need to be muti-tasking i.e. back up LBer, ST player, learning another position to make yourself un-expendable ( is that a word?). Just like he did with Polite, and just like he tells all his special teams players - cannot be one dimentional and expect to play on sunday.

That is pretty impressive by our ex-LB,,,,,moves to FB and after a few practices, he is ROMO's favorite target

Hoyte actually played a lot of FB on MNF, not just in short yardage situations. He didn't look too bad actually.

He was 46 the other night. I saw him standing behind Parcells, and I had no idea who it was.
