610.

And noone else is even close. Only Detroit has been penalized more times. 63 to our 60.

Every stat on this team says that we are a good deal better than our 4-4 record. But this lack of discipline is devastating to any chances we have. Our offense plays well, defense plays ok, our 3rd down conversion rate is second only to Indianapolis. We're third in TOP. But penalties and stupid mistakes continue to destroy us. I don't even know that there's anyone to blame for this. It's just awful.

I thought the Commanders were leading the league. Sure seemed like it over recent weeks.

They are a distant second. About 60 yards behind. Then things start to even out more at Detroit, around 500.

The irony is that BP coached teams have always (barring the current fiasco) been among the least penalized teams in the NFL. Why? Because he started bringing NFL refs to training camp to get players educated and reduce these penalties. Apparently, it's worked everywhere else except here.

Perhaps there is a 'Boys bias that exists, because he's not doing anything different than in past years.

You can bet your house that in everygame this year...

Witten will false start
Fasano will hold someone
Rivera will hold someone
Flo will false start and hold someone
One of the safeties will hold or interfere
Ware will be called for offsides

Proof, that, this is a very stupid team. Until we fix this problem this team will not make the playoffs.

They are. Dallas is a close 2nd. The 610 does lead the league in offensive penalty yardage. We have another 444 on defense.

The thing is, it's not just getting penalties but when they get them. They always seem to occur at the most back breaking times. Also, when a player is out of position they just grab the opposing player and either interfere or hold them. It results in giving up huge yardage chunks. You just can't overcome that in a league in which the teams are separated by very little. There's just no room for error.

No, no, no. We have 610 penalty yards TOTAL. Our opponents have 444 total.

It's stupid how NFL.com lists penalties -- "offense" and "defense" when they actually mean "team total" and "opponents' total."

This is on the players- they are the ones that KNOW better and still do it. Just what else can the coaches do. The old saying you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.
