League sources tell the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the asking price for Lions WR Roy Williams is "at least" one first-round pick.

The Lions want to keep Williams in 2008. They'd rather deal Shaun McDonald, who could be an option for the receiver needy 49ers.

The demand was certainly going to be there. Looks like Detroit has fielded a number of offers for that second rounder. Not going to get it done now.

The Draft Daddy Blog is reporting from the Combine, together with other news, That Detroit is very anxious to move Roy Williams

The availability of wide receiver Roy Williams is also in hot debate with Jacksonville, Tennessee, Tampa Bay and New Orleans all interested. The Lions are looking for a second round pick and have told several clubs they would even consider a pick in next years' draft to get a deal done.

Why not next year's #1??

Roy is our guy. There's not a better option in trading right now.

Hell, give up next years 1st for him. With Roy, we can help make sure that pick is #32. :)

I'd give our 28th overall for him.

We can still get a CB with 22, and we should land a very good RB with our 2nd.

And we're set.

Well here is the thing. If it's really a one, and what teams I've seen mentioned are actually interested (Tampa and such) they can offer a high #1 than we can with our 28. So it's not as simple just offering 28. You have to hope that 28 is a high enough 1 to get him.

This is where my problem would be. Tampa, New Orleans and Tennesse could all offer higher picks than 28 and that would pretty much push us completely out of the conversation.

I haven't heard any rumors of a team offering a high Round 1 pick for R Williams.

would you rather have roy, or asante samuel
I'd rather have Roy and draft a corner than have Asante and have to draft a receiver. This is a much much stronger corner class than receiver class.
