Lee's injury a blessing in disguise

And pay him how?

And what?

Nope..

This is not a good message to send to the team..

..that you can not play and still be rewarded.?

Sorry.

Not going to go there anymore.

The $2.5M (mere peanuts for an nfl player) that is stated in his contract with the millions upon millions of dollars in revenue the Jones' make from owning the Dallas Stars. Simple enough for you?

And so you're saying that cutting your defensive captain for a freak injury while going his usual 100% in practice is a better message to send? People really need to think before they post these crazy over reaction stuff.

The injury absolutely sucks and it is now apparent (in reality it should have before this) that Lee can't be counted on going forward, but the heck do people really think cutting him at this point is going to do?

A "blessing in disguise" would've been him getting hurt right before we re-signed him. I fail to see any blessing here. No matter how you shape it. Sean Lee was our best defensive player and he's out for the season. If it allows for Bruce Carter or Hitchens to all of a sudden become Pro Bowlers than okay. But I see no perks of this.

It's a disaster. He's the only blue chip player we definitely had on that side of the ball. Any replacement is a major step down in both talent and leadership.

I'm sick about this.

Yes, but they will be playing, thats an upgrade.

On a personal level, I feel really, really bad for Lee. He's the type of player you want on your team. Plays all out all the time and is a great team mate. At the same time, sub-consciously, his team mates are thinking the same as the rest of us and that's that he just can't stay on the field. So I don't think this will be a big blow to how the defense progresses.

Don't feel sorry for Lee. He's rich beyond any of his expectations. And he will heal.
I would, for now, feel sorry for us, the fans, the team and jerra, whose heart is bigger than his brain and who takes chances and continually gets kicked in the face by circumstances, many not of his own making.

In a year we'll all forget about Lee. Coaches and teammates will offer honorifics and pleasantries but in the final urinalysis, he's just another banged up player who never fully got to show whatever talents he told us he had.

Guess what, there's no guarantee that Carter or Holloman or Hitchins or whoever starts there now won't get hurt at some point also.

I'll take my chances with the aforementioned players and not for the consistently injured player known as Lee.

Let's face it. Lee wasn't going to be able to play most of the season anyways. I mean he hasn't for his whole football career basically. He's too small for his position and plays at 100% all the time. It's a blessing in disguise that he's out for the season in May. This gives the GM plenty of time to come up with an alternative. We may not have a player for the opener who's as good as Lee is, but at least we'll have someone who's had a chance to learn the system and not be thrown to the wolves in game 6 or 9 as in years past.

I don't think I've ever seen a FAN try and find a positive in the face of such a huge negative more than you just did with this situation. There's no blessing in disguise losing your best defensive player in May when you've already parted ways this offseason with your second and third best defensive players. We all knew looking at Lee's injury history that he wouldn't last the entire 2014 season no crystal ball needed to make that call but to lose him for the entire season during the teams first OTA practice after moving on from Ware and Hatcher has left the defense which already had more holes in it than Bonniie and Clyde's death car in complete shambles. The Cowboys have no chance of finding a decent alternative for Lee at this juncture. What he brought to the defense isn't going to be found on the street or even when the final cuts come this summer.

The only chance of finding a decent alternative would be via a trade. Scream hater at me all you want but the facts are the Cowboys chances of making the playoffs in 2014 were slim at best before Lee went down now they look virtually non existent. The teams top free agent signing Melton is coming off an ACL and isn't expected to see any on field activities until training camp. The Cowboys will certainly be holding their breath with Melton who I don't see making a huge impact. Amobi Okoye who the Cowboys signed will also miss OTA's after missing all of last season. The defense looks like a mash unit with all the players the Cowboys were forced to sign who are trying to come back from injuries.

Spencer another one of the limping wounded who the Cowboys were forced to resign out of desperation just got put on the pup list so he's as good as done. I haven't even mentioned Claiborne who's still recovering from one of his many injuries. He's another china doll who'll go down at some point during the upcoming season. With Marinelli as the Cowboys 3rd DC in as many years and with the teams top 3 defensive players gone from what was the 3rd worst defense in NFL history last season everything is pointing to a colossal train wreck on the defensive side of the ball in 2014. Right now the Cowboys look like a 4-12 to 5-11 team and that's if Romo remains healthy. If he suffers a setback or is lost for all or a portion of the 2014 season the Cowboys might be picking #1 overall in next years draft. Just giving you a dose of reality.

I just have such mixed emotions regarding upgrades that put significantly inferior players on the field. Hard to see it as the positive it really is, I guess.

Well one thing for sure is this guy is not suited for the NFL physically. Whatever can be hurt it seems it happens to him.

There is no blessing in this that I can see. Just the absolute plain fact that he cannot be counted on no matter how well he does play when he is in there or how smart he is.

I don't see any blessing in disguise because their's no blessing in disguise. There's no blessing in your best player on defense who you just re-signed last season going down with a ACL injury. None.

In retrospect, Lee's been a progress stopper. He hasn't played even close to a full season yet but is the defacto starter. Now we can move on now in May instead of in Nov or Dec. If you can't see that, then that's your problem.

By this same logic, our d-line should have been great last year, since Spencer, Ratliff, Crawford, and Bass were all hurt early in training camp, right? This is bulsh. He is the best player on defense and it isn't a blessing at all.

Thats not true. Crawford and Bass were back ups for Spencer and Ratliff and Ratliff was expected to be back. Nobody has back ups for the back ups. Totally different situation so far. The talent level drops off most likely because now you go to a back up but at least now he will be more educated about the position unless last year repeats it's self. Your determination to not see how a back up getting early experience is good is borderline ignorant and or stubborn.

This injury is only a blessing to the offenses the Cowboys play. I saw Lee as the best defensive player the Cowboys have, although durability is a big issue. Although I am not a fan of the colors he wears on game day, I really do like him as a player. I hope he heals fully and can give it a go again next year.

Anything can happen to this team and it will be considered a blessing in disguise by somebody.

We get about 15 blessings a season and yet we cant even win a single playoff game.

I see nothing in this injury that benefits Dallas.

The notion he wouldn't have played the entire year doesn't mean much.

The truth is a player who is not as skilled will take Lee's place. After seeing Hatcher and Ware leaving, how can anyone put a spin on this to say this was a blessing?
