I'm done with glass players. Love the guy but I was over him last year when he went out. One too many times now.

Murray is leaning towards glass status himself.

I get all of the sentiment an all, but the bottom line is that his is a business first, and has to be viewed as such.......if a player regardless of his talent, cannot stay on the field he is of no value......I felt this way with Miles and I feel the same with Sean.....it's unfortunate, but it is what it is

So, in your opinion Dallas will not give this guy a shot next year? Even with their financial commitment. And you determined this guy will never play? I agree with heading toward another player. But I believe they were trying to do that this draft.

Do you give the guy a shot next year? Wow what a great question. I suppose you have to give him a shot if he gets the stamp of approval from the medical staff. The biggest mistake the Cowboys could possibly make is allowing Lee's contract dictate any move they make. Either he can play and deserves to be in the final 53 or he gets cut. If I'm the general manager, my day began today with the thought that Lee would never take anyother snap in a Cowboy uniform and I start working to find a long term replacement.

He's been stopping the organization from acquiring and developing someone to take his place.

He played in 29 of his first 32 games in the league. At what point should the organization, who had drafted him despite his injury history, decided to give up on a 2nd round pick and draft someone new because of injuries?

Obviously if they thought chronic injury was going to be a problem, they wouldn't have picked him in the first place.

I don't see how it's a blessing. Now, if they had drafted a middle linebacker with the 3rd round pick, instead of spending it to move up to take a DE, THEN I might see your point. They had every reason to prepare for this contingency, but are caught with their pants down-again.

I'm going to say this once to everyone else who post's negative crap about Lee is just disrespectful and I agree with you that many just want to say negative crap just for the sake of being negative. Yes, Lee has been injured... alot... but he has been a consumate professional here putting everything on the line every play, every season. Maybe it is time to move on from him but to be so venomous in a lot of these comments is just.... sickening is the only word I can come up with. Just my rant ... moving on.

Yep.

This may be one of the dumbest threads in recent ClownZone history.

Don't feel sorry for Lee. He's rich beyond any of his expectations. And he will heal.
I would, for now, feel sorry for us, the fans, the team and jerra, whose heart is bigger than his brain and who takes chances and continually gets kicked in the face by circumstances, many not of his own making.

In a year we'll all forget about Lee. Coaches and teammates will offer honorifics and pleasantries but in the final urinalysis, he's just another banged up player who never fully got to show whatever talents he told us he had.

How is that when they drafted someone to take his place if he were to get hurt? And years prior they attempted to draft Bobby Wagner if they would've kept their 2nd round pick. And this year they thought they had Shazier with their pick. Lee has stopped no ones progress. You can call him a lot of things. But progress stopper? I don't see it.

You give him a shot every year until you can release him. I made a post in one of these threads about Roy Tarpley and his drug addiction. Dallas had to ride that horse until it fell. Same with Lee. Until you can cut him without a financial hit.

Actually Id much rather it occurred well into the season. I'll take 9 to 12 games of healthy Sean Lee play over none any day of the week.

I would rather it not happen at all but right now we have a rookie who is likely to play the spot and now will have to work another guy in at MLB, this is much easier during OTA and traing camp as opposed to the season when there is little time between games to get the work in that needs to be done to get a player ready. NFL just does not allow that much practice time between games

I hope he thinks loud & hard about retiring & then does.

He's the one suffering. Surely at some point he's smart enough to figure out his body just isn't suited for the NFL game. Go fly fishing or something Sean. Take your millions & enjoy your life.

I feel sorry for the guy but this needs to be over.

I think the point being overlooked is that Hitches would still be practicing all summer anyway. Would he get 1st team reps? No, but there's no point on signing guys to be backups if 2nd team reps don't translate to anything at all when they get moved to the first team.

Additionally, lets say Lee went down during week 10. That's 10-11 additional weeks that Hitchens would have had to practice and learn. Time spent under Sean Lee, watching how Lee handles things.

Anyone who says the team is better off because it happened now is just rationalizing. There's never a good time to lose your best defender, the later the better. Losing someone before they can even help at all is about as bad as it gets.

Problem is it is not just getting Hitchens, he may not start in the mean time you have Holloman and Durant that will be competing for the MLB spot as well and right now they all need the reps to take over that job and fact is during the season you don't get that many reps. Teams are too busy in the reg. season putting in the game plan they are not working on the fundamentals of the position that is what takes place during the off season. As far as I can see this is not about getting 1 man ready to be the starter it is about getting 2 and 3 guys ready to either be starting or backing up.

And whether or not Lee is injured, Hitchens partakes.

I think players get a different sense of urgentcy when they know they will be the guy counted on. Hitchen no doubt knows he must increase his work load he does not have the luxtury of sitting behind Lee he has to step up now. And again it is not just Hitchens it is getting others ready we can't have the backup become the starter and then move guys around to be his backup mid season.

Everyone is just assuming that had Lee not hurt his knee yesterday, .. that he would have eventually hurt something, .. just because he has previously.

We don't know that for certain, .. nobody knows.

Finding a silver lining or thinking this is a blessing because it happened now, .. is lke being grateful that your wife cheated on you in June, .. and not in December after you had already bought her Christmas presents.

That's the stupidest analogy I've ever heard. Absolutely stupid.
