If we weren't going to throw money at Sean Payton, we should have made a push for Andy Reid...

There is a lot of myth around Jason, like his ties to Norv... His first year here was Norv Turner's last. Most of his experience with the Air Coryell offense was with the likes of an out-of-touch and aged Zampese and Bruce Coslett. It was an era of gradual dysfunction he experienced.

I dont even understand the Garrett love when you take into consideration his career. He started ....7 games? He is a no one who did nothing for this franchise, but so many worship him as a hero. He isnt Emmit. He isnt Troy. He isnt Micheal. He isnt Harper. He isnt even te best qb to wear #17 for this team.

It was ugly. But the offense put up 30 points. Three. Zero.

Garret took over a bad team. Horrendous offensive line. And an offense not exactly teaming with play makers.

This team has had a ton of turnover. Is getting younger. And needs time.

Love the way the team is being built under Jason.

And anyone who thought he mismanged the end of the game...point out exactly where and what.

The way I see it is that Garret and the Cowboys ran off 71% of the clock on the final series and added 3 points while they were at it.

People call Jerry a bad GM. You guys are worse. From the Clabo and Free blabber to wanting to change coaches every 2 years....this team would be the St. Louis Rams with some of you at the helm.

I wish you all would just be quiet. Cowboys are number 1 at least in one thing. Worst fanbase.

it wasn´t that bad of a team, it had won a playoff game the year before, look at Reid in KC this year or Harbaugh in Sf two years ago.
At what time do you say "yes, he´s building the team the right way but the results are not what we are looking for"?
You can defend Garrett all you want but at some point you have to look at the results, he´s been here for over 3 years and he is an average and mediocre HC and like it or not that´s not up to discussion, it all comes down to W-L and he hasn´t been good enough.

A bad team that won a playoff game 8 months earlier. Hmm...

How were they doing when Jason took over? Wait why did he take over? Oh yeah that's right. The coach was fired in the middle of a lost season.

And LOL at referencing something 8 months in the past. In the NFL? You realize something like 40% of playoff teams from the season prior don't even return to the postseason?

I guess the Vikings and Commanders and Texans and Atlanta and Baltimore aren't bad teams because they were in the playoffs last year?

LOL. Yeah the assistant head coach had nothing to do with that mess.

He's a guy who played during the dynasty years, who happened to go to Princeton and speaks all politic-like giving Jerry the illusion he could be a good coach. Its going to break Jerry's heart to fire Garrett.

Well, there you go making generalizations. I never wanted Free gone and I wasn't really sold on Clabo. What other nonsense do you have? Oh, yeah, give Garrett time. It's a process. More like if Garrett was a slice of meat, he'd be processed.

So, are you conceding that Jerry is a bad GM, but think that the fans that might be critical of him are worse?

Another thing that has contributed to the myth is JG being sought after by other NFL teams. But in reality, that was the trend of the NFL at that time. McDaniel, Schwartz, and other young coaches... Haley was sought after during this era. Garrett has lasted only cause his ties...

Total hot stove stuff, and Jerry put his hands into the fire.

This was a pretty big logic blunder on your part.

Jerry's true skill as a GM wasn't in question nor did I make an attempt to quantify it. I merely stated that our fanbase collectively would be worse.

Better luck next time.

Another poster in another thread made a remark that we'll always be mediocre under Red because when we start off well, he'll put on the brakes and start playing conservative, which then allows the opponent to catch up. And if we're doing bad, then he'll unleash the offense which usually let's us catch up. Thus, we're usually in close contests, which history says you should win 50% of. Thus, we're mediocre and will continue to stay so for as long as Red is HC.

I determined I'd be open minded about him this season and see how he would respond to the new situation (not calling plays anymore). I think I've seen enough. I'm so ready to move on from him.

So if Jerry's skill as a GM is not in question, which seems like an affirmation, how bad could our collective fanbase be?

You're not...listening.

In my statement Jerry could be a good GM and our fanbase is a very bad one.

Or Jerry could be a bad GM and our fanbase could be an even worse one.

The point is...this board is so emotional and reactive. After week 1 Ware was a beast a manchild and will break the single season sack record.

This doesn't even touch on the let's bench Terrance Williams for Harris debacle.

By Week 8 we have threads wanting to trade him and Witten.

Winning the turnover differential by +4 surely helped. My friend, if you don't think that the Dallas offense has reached a point of critical mass then exhibit A was Bryant's exhortations to his fellow players, the job of which actually belonged to the head coach. But I'm just spitballing here. If Detroit doesn't turn into a turnover machine, Dallas loses big in Detroit today.

He does some things good ...

Seriously, I can't think of one thing good Garrett does. What does Garrett do well? I'm not trying to be smart. If someone asked me to name one thing Garrett does well, I'd draw a blank.

I'm sure we all could name numerous things Garrett does very poorly. :) I have no clue why Garrett was even hired let alone still masquerading as head coach.
