Several sources have indicated that the Dolphins are in hot pursuit of Falcons quarterback Matt Schaub, the 6-5 backup to Michael Vick. Schaub, who's in the final year of his three-year rookie $1.85 million contract, has started two games in two seasons. A source said the Falcons have received inquiries from several teams this offseason for Schaub, but it would take "a high pick" to possibly get him.

I'd love to see if we could get Matt Schaub to serve as our backup QB now and our long-term starter after Bledsoe leaves. I wanted to see if we could get JAX backup QB David Garrard before he re-signed with the Jags last year. Now, we should dump one of our probably-never-will-be's Henson or Romo and see if ATL would take our 3rd for Schaub. We probably have the worst backup QB situation in the league with two extremely inexperienced and unproven guys with neither of them regarded particularly highly as prospects and neither looking like they could step in right away and win games should Bledsoe should go down. Schaub on the other hand has appeared in 10 games over the course of his first 2 years in the league and torched the Pat's D as a starter for a 112.1 QB rating despite throwing to one of the league's worst WR corps. The bottom line is we know what we could get from him while we still have no idea what we could get from Romo and Henson.
Schaub could be the next J. Delhomme, a guy who just needed to leave his original team and get extended playing time to prove his worth. Schaub should leave ATL where he'd otherwise be stuck for years behind M. Vick, come to DAL and sit and watch Bledsoe for a while, then once D. B. leaves, he would make a worthy successor to Drew. For the short-term, he'd make a great backup, and for the long-term we'd have a solid starter IMHO.
