Let's not worry about Chicago right now

After watching tonights game there's no question that the Bears are well on there way to at least a 12 win season, especially considering the schedule they face...I could actually see them going 15-1 and the road to the superbowl will no doubt go through Chicago, and they will likely clinch their division early in december...

With that said, they will be just like Indy last year, and Pittsburgh the year before.....a regular season contender, but a postseason pretender.....they won't be ready to contend with a complete team that matches up with them on both sides of the football especially since they won't have played a meaningful game in weeks by the time the postseason gets underway. We will be battled tested with the schedule we face, especially in the NFC East. Their defense is fierce, but their overaggressiveness will ultimately open the door for big plays in the passing game, we saw it last year with Carolina in the playoffs.

Right now I look at the Cowboys and I see a team that is going to create mismatches for defenses all year long, and it's scary to think how good we will be by midseason once we really start firing on all cylinders. If Bledsoe gets the type of protection he has the first 3 weeks than it's over...plain and simple, and I don't care if we are playing at Seattle or Chicago in late January. On the flipside our defense is doing it the old fashioned way, playing disciplined and getting enough pressure to force opposing offenses into mistakes. We don't need to rack of the sacks, we just need consistency that will force teams into costly INT's and Inopportune fumbles.

I don't agree with your analysis that Chicago is a pretender. This team wasn't far from advancing to the Super Bowl last year and they appear to be much improved this year.

With that said, I agree we whouldn't be worrying about Chicago. We're far, far away from having to worry about playoff seedings.

There's no question that tonights win against the Seahawks was impressive, but should it come as a surprise? I'm not going to make excuses, but you have to consider the fact that the Bears had this game circled on their calender the day the schedule came out.....primtime game against the defending NFC Champs. And as for seattle, without Alexander and with a diminished offensive line this team is average at best. They will win the NFC West easily, but they still aren't as good as they (or a lot of fans) think.

As for the bears....they have beat detroit and green bay...who are two bottom feeders no matter which way you slice it. They very easily could have lost the game at minnesota as well. I'm not saying they aren't contenders, but the point of my argument is that they will fall apart in the postseason just like they did last year. Carolina destroyed their defense, and we are a very similar team, if not much better than the Panthers. Their defense is built on speed and they take a lot of gambles that will kill them against a good offensive team like us.

To me, Minnesota's a solid 9-win team this year. So I don't necessarily look at that game as a poor showing by Chicago.

Maybe I'm being sucked into the hype too easily, but Chicago finally having a good quarterback is a scary notion. I'm one that has had Grossman written off as a bust since, well, basically the day he was drafted. Just never liked him. But the way he's come on is remarkable.

I don't think you can understimate the impact of his presence alone. Granted, he could still fall apart, but that seems less likely than it does that he continues to play well. It looks like he's genuinely a better player who understands the game now...and, even more so, is finally healthy.
