Well, if you've got the #2 and the guy you really want is gone, you gotta consider trading back a bit and picking up some premium picks.

I'm going to bust up if we go D again early in one.

RIGHT NOW I'd say Calais Campbell, Laurenitis and Groves are better than any WR, RB or CB (need positions) we could take up top.

There are a lot of options. Just a few.

Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Sam Baker, OT, USC
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona

Trade the pick to someone looking QB.

Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville if we need a QB.

Our hands certainly wouldn't be tied.

Depends on who is coming out next season and how the college players perform this season

If we were to trade a #2 overall pick. The internet would crash.

if Cason was available w/ our 2nd, 1st, I'd take him in a heartbeat, that would be a steal

Lets say the 7th round pick that we wanted is gone. Who do we take instead? :moon:

I'm in the RB camp and have been for a long time and that won't change. Why? Becuase we didn't offer JJ and extension because we will let him walk IMO. This is shaping up to be the best RB class in years(as Scott said) and we will have a top 10 pick. Now is the time to get a franchise type RB we thought JJ would be and hasn't become and certainly WON'T this year with the owner and coach saying MB3 and TT MAY be getting even MORE carries in 2007. RB will be the first priority, or didn't you guys hear Stephen Jones say DMac's name when we traded with Cleveland????????

I agree with this approach especially if team is sitting there with 2 #1's that wants to move up. That way you could possibly get a quality WR, RB/OL CB, with your 3 #1's and OL and DT with your 2 #2. That should address any weaknesses this team has and set us for long-term success

I know cap wise you wouldn't want to sign and then resign 3 first rd. picks in the same year but I can dream can't I.

Steve Slaten, Desean Jackson, if they come out. Probably trade down a couple of picks and use the extra pick to trade up with the second first.

First off I say we throw in our second first to move up and get Mcfadden, I beleive that is our plan.

If we can't get Mcfadden, I would like to see us come away with Slaten and a WR like Jackson or Manningaham, or a CB like Cason or the guy from Kansas with the funny name.

Yes, if Romo is a hit and DMac is gone, and we have #2, we trade back. If Romo is a hit and DMac is taken #1, can you imagine what Brohm could be worth? Another 2nd in 2008 and another #1 in 2009 for trading just a few picks.

This is unanswerable. There simply is no way to accurately project who will be a hot commodity and who will fade some a year in advance.

Hell, as good as McFadden seems to be now, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have a dropoff next season or that some other RB could have a great year and end up projected higher ...... much stranger things have happened.

Aqib Talib, and being a Husker fan(for the most part) i've watched a lot of that Conf. and i'm of the opinion this kid may end up being in TNew's class in 3 years.

Long - I like this pick
Baker - not a believer yet, not sure I will be
Campbell - I need to focus on this year, not sure
Dorsey - Like that pick
Cason - Like that pick

The thing is I really want Fire Power on offense out of this draft. I really like both McFadden and Slaton and would love to have one of these guys. The thing about both is they bring a dimension he have not had in years on Offense, and that is the threat as a receiver as well. I would love to see us add a player to this offense that gives that Bush/Faulk dimension. OH MY!

Not sure if we can get either one with our next First rounder. If we are at #2 and who ever is drafting #1 will switch for our other first rounder, at this point I do it to get McFadden. That may be subject to change after next year, but right now I do it.
