What compensation could we honestly and realistically get for Ellis?? I say a 3rd and 5th round pick in the 2007 draft...thoughts?

I think probably a 3rd. maybe maybe a 2nd, if a good 4-3 team feels like they are close to winning.

Doubt it. He's a good player, but I dont think anyone is going to give up that much for a guy who even himself said, "When you're in your eighth or ninth year, bad years lead to no years." He knows where he's at, and nobody is going to give up 2 future prospects for a guy who may only perform at his best for the next 2 or so years.

Well we aren't going to get the full worth for Ellis so we should just keep him to be on the safe side. He's still Cowboys best pass-rusher. Parcells could start Ellis in the 4-3 Defense and Nickle and Dime.

I think this will be Ellis best year. Why?

Because he will be getting more rest and less on his shoulders. That could help him regain energy and come out there for Nickle, 4-3, and Dime Defense to put a explosive pass-rush on them Quarterbacks...:starspin

probably a conditional pick, a 5th or so

teams know he doesn't fit into the plans, so if we're entertaining trade offers, means we'll eventually cut him, so we'll get lowballed

I say we try to get a 3rd for him and package those picks for Brooks in the supplemental draft.

His drama queen act is getting old fast.

In principle, he should be worth a 3rd rounder.

In practicality, we release all our players for nothing and then they go out and sign deals for $5M/year.

Anyhow, we are making a push to be contenders this year and Ellis will be of way more value to us then a future 5th round draft pick if that is all anyone will offer us for him. We'd be better off keeping him and then releasing him in the offseason in that scenario.

I don't see how that's a bad thing, heck, we used to do that w/ other people's castoffs ;)

I'd take that in a heartbeat.
You and me both. HE already knows the system and is growing into his body. Hope his weight doesn't become a problem though, although I don't think it will once he continually gets to play football and workout.

The real question is -

Do Denver or St Louis really need another underachieving player from us?

Best thing you can hope for is that someone loses their starting D.E. in camp or pre-season then shipp him out. I'm pretty sure thats what Jerry is thinking of doing b.t.w. after he heard Ellis speak out.

DENVER BRONCOS will probably give us a first round for Ellis knowing how they like the Dallas Cowboys players... Ekuban and Myers...
