Mr. Jones,

I saw the Netflix documentary and remembered those 90's glory days, but the Jerry I see now is not the Jerry of those championship days. I won't even get into the bad trades or draft picks, or the coach undermining, or regular season records. I just want to state the obvious and that wildcatter oil salesman with energy to lift everyone 24/7 is no longer there.

What happened to the man who was brave enough to fire Tom Landry?! Brought in a college pedigree coach. Unheard of at the time! Or the guy that went and picked up Bill Parcells on his private jet and convinced him to coach the Cowboys in one sitting?! Your coaching hires these days are just full of personal comfort and security. We're the laughingstock of the NFL. We haven't see a bold coaching hire in a long time.

What happened to the guy who could still make it happen though difficult contract negotiations?! You didn't have to trade Emmitt away because he hurt your feelings! You ended up hugging him on the damn field as he broke the rushing record! Why do we have a Jerry now who last second trades away the best pass rusher in the NFL to doom his defense?! You used to give contracts to guys like Aikman with no hesitation. Now you wait until the very end as if you're afraid to sign anything. We watch as everyone else gets a deal and then you're forced to make that player the highest paid.

What happened to the Jerry who wasn't afraid to go make a splash on free agents. You signed Deion Sanders! The biggest free agent signing of its time! Now, this team is afraid to touch any free agent who gets above the league minimum!

The Jerry I remember is a guy who told the NFL to go chuck themselves and brought in his own sponsors. Told the Cheerleaders they needed to be sexy. Told the entire world he could win it with 1 of 500 coaches, and he did!

But that Jerry is long gone. If you don't have the energy, please pass it on. It's your team, you put your life savings into it and your whole family works there. I understand. And we're just fans who spend chump change compared to what you brought to the team, but we're also fans who were very proud of our team's dynasty, our team's swagger, and if you're not up to the job anymore, just sit down and please pass the torch.... The NFL is America's National Pastime now, and teams need to be run like it's 2025, not some legacy 1950's family organization. You used to be the guy who modernized everything, now you're the guy stuck in the past.

Culture has changed him, just look at his teeth, the more money he gets, the yellower his smile is!!! He's Ole Yeller!!!!!

Careful. Jerry Jones may read the forum. The image could spark a narcissistic flashback. Next thing you know...

DALLAS--Jerry Jones, owner of the NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys, announced he will remove his former two-time Super Bowl winning head coach, Jimmy Johnson, from the team's Ring of Honor. Jones cited a change of heart. "I dreamed of hiring Jimmy back last night. He took my spotlight away. It was terrifying. This will help me get over my panic attack."

We traded away Parsons because keeping him would ba e crippled the defense, because how could you pay the talent with all the money tied up in him?

It was the correct move. Maybe the timing was wrong. But it was a good move.

The timing was wrong in both foresight and hindsight. Jerry Jones was completely aware of the situation prior to the draft. It would have been in the best interest of Micah Parsons, the team and himself if he had facilitated the trade before or during the draft. Or at least tried to do so. That is the due diligence of any general manager.

Yeah, fans really need to quit re-writing history on this. It wasn't a planned move. Jerry let the negotiations out of hand. An entire season planned on #11 being there and last second trade on best of what they could get. Just another example of the old Jerry losing his mojo. This never would have happened in previous years. Just because you like the move, doesn't mean it was a good move.

we are ALL Mr. Lahey after putting up with Jerry and this team for the last 30 years.

lol. Jones' mojo has always been getting his way. He did not have partial or total control of the negotiations as he has in the past. He allowed the situation to drag out simply because he thought he would regain the high ground at some point.

The old adage is 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks'. Unfortunately, Jones' has the mindset of a mule, so that saying does not compute in his case.

What exactly did Jerry do besides buy the team and hire someone capable of running football ops while staying out of the way?

Then Jerry decided it was easy and could do it himself, and has failed even since….but his ego won’t let him quit and go back to what gave him actual success.

Forget it. It’s never happening again. He is neither capable or qualified and never was.

All of what you described happened pre salary cap

The old Jerry of their Glory days never left, he's still the same man.

The only reason why Jerry had his old glory days is because he was lucky enough to hire Jimmy out of the gate.

The old Jerry soon learned his lesson... He controls everything now, and not the coach or a traditional general manager who reports directly to the owner. He's saving money by cutting out the middle man LOL

Think about this (and it should scare you). Jerry honestly believes he is a great GM...

Jerry’s only 2 accomplishments was hiring his former college teammate in ‘89 and then being desperate for a quick fix to gain support for the new stadium when he relented and hired Parcells.

Ever since Jimmy, Jerry has been trying to do it his way and not be overshadowed by a real GM or HC. Parcells has been the only exception only due to desperation after theee straight 5-11 seasons with Campo.
