It appeared to be scheme last night. The one piece that was missing from the CB play was for them to get hands on the WR. The whole idea is to play up tight in an outside position and to force the WR to take the inside route. Remember the whole idea is to prevent the big play (bend don't break). However, on the drives that the NYG rallied and marched down the field, the CB's were not even trying to jam the WR, they just released them on inside slants forcing the LB and S to make the tackles 10-18 yards down field. Since none were doing it, I assume that was how the play was called. Why? I don't know. They have to get their hands on them to eliminate the 3 step slant and allow the DL time to get to the QB. Hopefully, it was just a bit of prevent that will get fixed this week and not a normal play call.
