Let’s first assume that Overshown is completely healthy to start this season. What EXACTLY is Overshown capable of being in Parker’s new defense?

Will Overshown be used as a linebacker? Will he primarily be used at edge/OLB? Or does he have the speed to be used as one of the safeties in this defense?

It doesn’t seem like his body is designed to hammer OGs as a linebacker. But as an edge he would seem to have speed to burn.

Can he drop 10 pounds and be one of the better safeties in football? Getting this right might have a huge effect on this defense.

Can he be the “in the box” safety for the Cowboys in place of Wilson? Can he cover?

I think he will be an OLB, blitzer and maybe play middle on passing downs. I would use him as a spy against running QB's.

How many starting 220 lbs OLB in the NFL , in a 3-4 scheme that we well know of ..?

- you don't see that because they are way too small ...vs 340+ OTs in rush situations and almost every down basis.

- i really don't like that smallish size as MLB, .either , and we really gotta have some cloggers along that DL to protect him.

- plus he'll have to learn the new middle LB role .. much less the scheme

- but this becomes a case of " try it out and see if we can get away with him. " because Overshown has shown special attrbutes an skill set in very limited time, and we're trying to salvage a high draft pick.

- and imo, it's not about Overshown starting the season healthy... but more so, somehow miracuously " remaining healthy throughout ..
Dude has instincts, burst, range and a good knack for blittzing. but his very suspect durability issues has made him so limited available and a questionable future.

I think he will play in 6.29 games (37%) which is his average over his entire career.

Where did you get 220lbs from? He was 229 at the combine and is visibly bigger now. I'd say 235ish.

And we wonder why our LB's keep getting hurt.

He's your Will lb, sign a Mike but draft as high as possible either way
He and Dean are the same guy unfortunately

yeah when I found out the MLB from san fran was small in weight that really threw me off!!

I’m mean he hasn’t done anything special yet

Could he be good?…maybe…who knows

Just a guy that gets hurts so far
people on here act like he's the greatest thing ever, he made a few nice plays and teased us! I'm worried about him playing a full season THEN gettin a nice deal and going back to this injury stuff

They will play 4-2-5 Nickel 70+ percent of the snaps.
-Overshown will be one of the 2 off-ball LBs in that alignment.
- They could limit his snaps to Nickel which lower the chance of him getting injured.
- Nickel faces more pass plays than run plays.

Most MLBs are around 235-250. Why? Because if they're too big, they won't be able to maneuver around in the crowded middle traffic to make plays. In scouting reports, it's pointed out if an MLB can slip blocks or not.

Yes and Parker has mentioned the value of a 'star' player that can be a big nickle, high safety or linebacker that hopefully they find in the draft, a smart player that will allow multiple fronts and looks without changing your personnel
Dallas may not have the players they need this year to do what he wants, it's up to Parker to use what they can get.
How aggressive they are in FA will be huge

Putting on weight for the combine and keeping it on are a far cry from each other.
He's mentioned in a couple of articles on DC.com that he's had issues keeping his weight above 220 through training camp!

Why wouldn't he play the Will, same role as 225 lb Zack Baun?
