Let's Talk About The Eagles

As if the head coach doesn’t have the authority to say “you need to run the ball in this situation”
That may be what gets us in trouble . And it’s probly not run the ball. It’s probly abandon the run, we will totally fool them by throwing the ball 3 times in a row on the goal line. Lol

No disrespect to the OP,, But F the eagles.
Its time that the Cowboys regained their rightful place in the NFC East.
Its time to start winning championships and Rings again,,, screw the eagles.

Lurie has been a pretty damn good owner and has hired some good number crunchers. I was never a huge fan of Joe Banner, but he managed the cap better than most teams do...and Roseman learned under him.

They will not be as cap strapped as many seem to think. Sure there will be challenges, But every team has those. I think some people think they will have to part ways with good players still in their prime. I don’t think that will be the case. We’ll see.

Where was Lurie in the McNabb years - being a good owner - where he held 10 to 12 million in his pocket each year from getting another one or two front line players.

Lurie looked at the calendar and went all in to get a championship before he croaked.

Yes he has the authority, and I'm sure he has, just as I'm sure a pass or passes has worked in those same situations before, I'm sure in the same situation running hasn't worked before, you're using hindsight, as a play caller you don't have that luxury. Until you've done it, you probably won't get that.

Also, you don't want to constantly get in the ear of your playcaller during the game. It kills his feel for the game, and how he's setting up his next play or plays.

At the end of the day, if Garrett actually wins something then the second guessing will stop.

The only reason Garrett has to be defended and have excuses made for him, is because he has failed for so long.

..nothing to really say, but they are the team to beat. Unfortunately, we play them twice..
Or fortunately. We have a chance to sweep them and effectively have a 2 game head start over them on the Division.

As much as I despise the eagles they are the SB champs and they are a major obstacle for the Cowboys. It will be a heck of a challenge for the Cowboys and I look forward to seeing it. I have always been of the mindset to be the best you have to beat them best and right now like it or not that is Philly

And I get that from average fans, when you look deeper you understand that's football, sometimes plays work and sometimes they don't. It happens to best of them.

Well said. There is zero guarantee that, had a team run instead of pass, the result would’ve been better. People act like Seattle running Lynch was an automatic TD, but it wasn’t. A myriad of things could’ve happened.

Look at our Packers game last year. In order to have a chance to tie the game, we had to pick up a 4th and less than 1 at about the 20. Zeke got it, but only by 1/2 the length of the ball, and only after reaching the ball (which easily could’ve been swiped out for a fumble) after being stopped, and only after a challenge resulting in a change of spot.

Geez, the same people that bemoan this offense passing laud the Eagles for passing inside the 5 in the SB. It was a good play because it worked, but what would be said if a DB or LB had sniffed it like Butler did against Seattle and clocked their starting QB and knocked him out of the game?

Bet365 has the Cowboys as 3:1 to win the NFC Championship and the Eagles at 13:2. That should tell you something right there.

Eagles are an above average team but probably the worst Super Bowl team so far this decade. They’ll be in the mix this year and the division won’t be decided until the final week.

After this year their cap situation blows up and they’ll be having a fire sale in Philly.
So the odds makers know what they are talking about? The football analysts get it wrong much of the time but the odds makers "might" be right?

As much as i hate to say it, the eagles are the team to beat for several years to come. They have a young qb and a really good D. Foles played lights out during the playoffs which i did not see coming at all. I thought he would choke big time. I think what came first was being wrong and then getting sick to my stomach. They flat outplayed everyone in the division and their record shows it.

I can't stand the eagles but wins and losses tell the whole story, especially come playoff time.

Will they repeat.....I hope not.

Exactly, then they forget all the times we've passed inside the 5 and it worked.

Look, I am no expert on all things NFL. But my gut of guts tell's me what happened this past season was in line with all those past 1 and done teams. yes the stars aligned, the moon phase was just right, and Fole's had a lucky rabbits foot in his hand warmer....I do not think the feagles will repeat, nor win the NFCE. Call it intuition, or just a gut feeling, or better yet my opinion. I happen to agree with The Skaven, they had best hope to make another run, the new NFL cap and all is coming home to roost on their butts.

No you don't want the head coach overriding the OC a lot during a game. Agree with that.

But in key spots where you think a mistake is being made? Hell yeah. And in the end, if there are bad play calls during a game, it doesn't matter who is calling the plays, the ultimate responsibility always should fall on the head coach.
