The Sacramento Bee doesn't expect the 49ers to re-sign impending free agent LG Mike Iupati.

Iupati has made the Pro Bowl the last three seasons and is expected to test the open market. The 49ers have rookies Marcus Martin and Brandon Thomas as in-house candidates to replace him.

I wanted the Cowboys to draft him when he came out. Perhaps he'll be cost prohibited but if there's a chance, would love to have him and move Martin to right tackle.

Just dreamin'...

He's awesome, but will get a pretty good deal and we've got other priorities in terms of signings.

If we did go after Iupati then I say let Leary walk and play Iupati at LG. Then resign Parnell to a low 2 year deal and draft a RT early. First 3 rounds.

You can't have steak on every plate.

More importantly, you don't need it. Three great OL means you can plug in two average guys and they'll play really well as you can cover their weaknesses. An upgrade over Leary - an expensive one at that - isn't going to have a huge impact.

He was on my radar for the Cowboys during the draft too, but oh well. I think he's about to be paid well, but it won't be in Dallas. Hopefully he ends up in the AFC.

I don't see the Cowboys spending any money on the OL in free agency unless Free leaves and we look for a backup/competition for Parnell or vice versa.

Any FA money will be spent on defense or just to resign our own....we've learned how to build through the draft.

I prefer the combination of Martin at Guard with Parnell or Free at RT.

I'm sure Martin could be OK at RT, but he's a more natural fit at Guard. He does not have the length of most OTs in the NFL which basically means that he would have to work extra hard as compared to guys with length like Parnell / Free.

I don't think Iupitai is looking for a Super Bowl ring, he wants money. If its a ring he wants, Dallas could be a great spot, he could be part of the next Great Wall of Dallas. If he just wants money, Dallas is already going to be spending that on....
