Jeff Heath is the next Bill Bates

might even be better.

much like people hated cole...they are slowly coming around too.

His physical abilities may limit his effectiveness, but no doubt the guys' giving it everything he's got. You can see he's genuinely trying

Heath has been playing better I can't lie either but he couldn't get any worse than Minnesota or New Orleans games... But the light is starting to come on for the rookie it appears..

They run option routes that let them key off of the coverage.

Tell me, if they aren't similar, what's the difference?

If you honestly dont know the difference between Cole Beasley and Wes Welker you havent watched much football. Not trying to be a butthole but "come on man". Outside of being short white slot guys that played college ball in Texas they have very little in common.

I'm still waiting to hear the difference.

I like Heath, undrafted out of Saginaw Valley and he earned a roster spot. Decent size, plenty of speed and is all over the field. Think he will only help us over the long run. Great play at the goal line last night too, either he or Wilcox should have come down with it. The Bease has been nothing but clutch for us, liked him from the start...keep hoping to see a real breakout game from him sometime soon.

Not really, but he is no where even remotely close to Bates. There is a chance he becomes a viable player but it is way premature at this point.

your making bates out to be some star as a starter. He wasn't. He ultimately found his niche on special teams and he was amazing at it. I have no idea on Heath yet and honestly I don't see the comparisons other then both being white and playing defense. Health is speed demon where Bates was slow but has terrific instincts.

Heath has shown some progression with all the live snaps. He is making steady progress. I love his effort out on the field, but I won't compare him to anyone. I hope he continues to improve.

I'm kind of young but I never saw Bill Bates get embarrassed at safety ever like Heath did against the Saints and Lions. I never saw Bill Bates get ran over like Heath did by AP.

Granted, those are just 3 instances for Heath but Heath just isn't in Bates' class in any facet of the game and it's obvious.

With that being said, I do like his passion and work ethic. He doesn't let things bother him and he gives it his all. That's more than I can say for a lot of guys with all the talent in the world.

I guess you didn't see Bates play much. I've seen him play bad plenty of times . He was a great ST player but a very average safety.

I also remember him getting trucked few time by big running backs. Both in college and the pros.

Besides being undrafted white safety, I don't see the resemblance between Heath and Bates.

Heath is more athletic and Bates was bigger. It remains to be seen if Heath has Bates' work ethic and the heart.

Bates wasn't a starter at safety. He was kept around because he was a difference maker on Special Teams.

Heath isn't a difference maker on Special Teams and he has been embarrassed as a safety.

If Bates was a "very average safety", then that's way better than anything Heath will ever be at the position.

he reminds me of bill bates with more range..

let me enjoy.

the play every one hates him on.
justin durant is the one that knocked him off peterson at the goal line by the way.

he was about to shovel him into the ground on that play.

happy thanksgiving.

He picked him up but Durant got him off, yeap, now if only he can get number 40 next season from McCray lol
