That shocked me when Jerry said Linehan will install his own offense with different terminology etc. read. On DC.com

That could be giving Jason an out since the offense will have to learn new terminology even though I think the design will be very similar.

If it truly is Linehans we absolutely will be getting a Reggie Bush type player in the draft or FA. I don't think the team trusts Dunbar.

Let's see. the Cowboys had one of the worst defenses in NFL history. and our owner/GM is running around talking about who will call the plays. it's hopeless folks.

Makes you wonder why he and Kiffin are still here.

Contractual obligation for Bill, and they like the offensive line's development.

As for Kiffin, he was never the long term solution at defensive coordinator. He was the installation specialist. Rod Marinelli was the long term solution. And he respects Monte and his philosophy, even if it didn't necessarily translate onto the field with Simon and Garfunkle playing defensive line.

The switch to the 4-3 is not complete and won't be complete for another season or two. That's why people shouldn't be surprised if we go WR or OG or OT early in this draft. The defense is a multi-year project that's going to include more old-body purge and infusion of new talent over time, just like our offensive line was rebuilt over three seasons culminating with the Frederick pick. And many will argue that the OL still needs tweaking.

In short, we're trying to become perennially good, not flash-in-the-pan good.

woo hoo, im feeling it now, because when i think offense, the awesomely well known offenses of Linehan that has dominated, creatively and with a force has not only dominated the NFL, but has lead many a teams to countless victories. we are SOLID now, and i take my opinion back from not going to the playoffs and doubling down to "ya just might as well bet on it" so with that, bring on the next QB because theres no point wasting Romo.

lmao. yeah thats working out great.

These things take time, man. Three years and our offensive line has gone from essentially Romo's obituary to our strength - we can finally run the ball effectively, and Romo stays upright more often than not.

The defense is going to be the same. I wouldn't be surprised if we have another painful year on defense while we get the talent cleaned up and get new bodies in there that match the new philosophies in the NFL centered around speed. We'll get there, though.

He uses the same Coryell system as Garrett, so I doubt it'll be as different as some are thinking. I'm sure he'll integrate terminology to make it easier on the players to remember plays. It isn't like they're running an entirely new offense.

we can run the ball but the hc refuses to. and yes it takes time to train hc on the job.and it doesnt take time with the right hc. many examples out there. 8-8 3 straight seasons with a week 17 choke job isnt improving

Not saying we won't get or could not use a Bush type player, but Linehan has coached for many years and had Bush only 1 year.

That makes zero sense. When we converted to the 3-4 in 2005, we spent 6/8 picks on defensive players who would play in the scheme. I agree it is more than a 1 year type of deal, but you should have started last year.

Starting 'last year' is always mid-season for Dallas and the F.O.
