Just heard on ESPN Sportscenter that the Eagles have received an offer for Lito sheppard and will be trading him soon?

Does anyone know of any news about this? The team who sent the offer?

I didn't hear that. I just heard he was begging to be traded, then today (or yesterday?) he said that he plans on taking back the starting CB role for the Eagles.

Until a trade is confirmed, it's but a rumor.

Foxworth got traded to ATL if I read the screen right.

Wonder where Lito is going. Hopefully they aren't getting anything good in return.

They said that his Agent said that the eagles received offer earlier but didn't like the compensation, but will take this trade offer they just received.

Yes its a rumor, but it's a rumor that actually has a little merit.

If I were the Eagles, I would be looking WR. DeSean Jackson was drafted as a punt returner and probably isn't ready to make a big impact on offense.

I had heard about the offer they had turned down yesterday, but haven't heard anything on this most recent offer.

Thanks for the info.

Bottom Line on Lito Hasn't Changed
Eagletarian's close personal friend, Drew Rosenhaus, (who could forget that sunny afternoon we spent together on T.O.'s lawn in Moorestown? I get lost in fond reverie every time someone mouths the words "next question!") checked in with me today, and I didn't even have to go to YouTube. Boiling it down for you, Drew says the Eagles got an offer for Lito Sheppard within the past few weeks, and he still expects Lito to be traded shortly.

"At least one team has made a recent trade proposal to the Eagles," Rosenhaus wrote in an email to the Daily News. "The Eagles didn't like the compensation and turned it down. I will not identify the team at this time. I think there is a very good chance Lito gets traded in the next few weeks."

Hey, I'm not rooting for Lito to remain miserable, I really like the guy. But once again, I'll be really surprised if he gets traded at this point. Back in April, before the draft, maybe the Eagles would have taken a second-rounder. Now? Well, you seriously weaken the 2008 team if you trade Lito for a 2009 pick of any sort. And indications are that the offer Rosenhaus alluded to was not for a second-rounder. Would you trade Lito for, say, a fourth? I can't see why the Eagles would do that. If he really is one of the league's best, as Drew contends (and I believe, more or less), he's worth more than a fourth-rounder next year.

Unless Lito is willing to go home to Jacksonville and sit out the year, the bottom line here hasn't changed: He'll play for the Eagles this year, show he can be healthy and productive, get traded next spring. And going home might not be a great option: The Birds won't be hurting at corner. They might just let him sit a long, long time.

Meanwhile, the700level.com has a take on the Eagles' wideout situation over the years. I don't disagree much, except I would say that key divisional rivals having superstar wideouts, such as Plaxico Burress and Terrell Owens, makes the contrast more vivid for fans. It certainly isn't impossible to win the Super Bowl without an All-Pro wide receiver, but all other things being equal, having one sure makes it easier.

What does Cleveland have to give to phili?

I think it's a team that has some WR's to give out

Just draft picks most likely.

The reasons I think it's them are:

1) They're desperate for cornerback help

2) They're expected to win now

3) Savage and Crennell have shown a willingness to pay big for help right now

4) They play Dallas on Sunday

That's all great, but why would the eagles trade away there "cowboy killer" for some draft picks, when they turn around and face the cowboys the following week.

If the eagles are gonna trade Lito there gonna trade him for a player and some picks.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said in an e-mail to the Philadelphia Daily News Tuesday that at least one team has made a recent trade proposal for Lito Sheppard and the Eagles would not accept.
"The Eagles didn't like the compensation," said Rosenhaus. "I will not identify the team at this time. I think there is a very good chance Lito gets traded in the next few weeks." Sheppard, who feels unwanted after Asante Samuel's addition, voiced his frustration with the Eagles throughout the offseason. Sep. 3 - 8:44 am et

Rosenhaus: Sheppard trade coming soon

Sheppard

In an e-mail to the Philadelphia Daily News, Lito Sheppard's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, indicated that his client is on the verge of being traded. Someone wake me up when this ordeal is over.

The Eagles need a third cornerback, so there's not much incentive for a trade. If someone gets desperate and wants to give up a first- or second-rounder, then I'm sure the Eagles would listen. But for some reason, I don't see that happening right now.

Here's what Rosenhaus had to say:
"At least one team has made a recent trade proposal to the Eagles," Rosenhaus wrote in an e-mail to the Daily News. "The Eagles didn't like the compensation and turned it down. I will not identify the team at this time. I think there is a very good chance Lito gets traded in the next few weeks."

Hopefully it will be to the Browns and prior to next weekends game against the Eagles. Lito would not be able to get up to speed on Cleveland's Defense in time to play Dallas this weekend and the Eagles would not be able to throw him out against us the following week. Dallas would not have to play against him anytime soon after that.
