I'm sure my father-in-law has been made keenly aware of this situation. Perhaps he might have to get directly involved considering he works for the Federal Railroad on the east coast.

They've somewhat ruled out "terrorism" at this point.

Latest details:
  • A seventh fatality was discovered in the wreckage earlier today,
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter confirmed at an afternoon news
    conference.

  • An analysis by The Associated Press of surveillance video just before
the deadly crash indicates Amtrak Train 188 was traveling about 107 mph
as it approached a curve where the speed limit was only 50 mph. So far, officials have declined to speculate on what caused the accident.
  • The train's "black box" event recorders are being analyzed.
  • An unknown number of people are unaccounted for, officials say. "We will not cease our efforts until we are absolutely sure that we have gone through every vehicle," Nutter said."The search is vigorous."

I heard they were traveling 104mph through a 50mph turn. Pretty much what happen to the Metro North train in NY did not too long ago, except I think they were going 70mph though a 30mph turn.

Great Job Amtrak.

And people want single manned trains....good luck with that. Some of these stupid people are talking about psp speed control system...really? Financially they would never do that. The answer is 2 man crews mandatory at all times. Inward facing cameras and conductor logs mandatory every certain MP and speed restrictions. Amtrak is an embarrassment.

Ceo just confirmed psp control ..wow I didn't expect that. It'll cost them big. That's the least they would do.
