Samsung and AT&T are bad about the updates.

This time around they said the problem was with the VR gear for the Note 4 and having to make changes so Lollipop would work correctly with it.

Frankly I am not too upset as they were only a month off the mark. They were saying it was going to be last month for the updates and when I read that I laughed and told a friend that it meant it would be July or later.

Did this update on my S5 a couple weeks ago, and it is killing my battery, and I have a lot of errors happening. My Verizon rep said to factory reset, until the patches come out.

doesn't surprise me. When I got my note 2 they pushed out an update and I went from battery life of all day with moderate to heavy use to I had to recharge by noon.

I have a question though, I just upgraded, I paid the 299.00 for note 4 with 2 year contract instead of the ATT Next ripoff, do I now own the phone or do I have to wait the 2 years to root it.

Don't know...I don't even think they have a root for the note 4 with lollipop yet anyway.

I think that is to be addressed in the 5.1 or 5.2 update.

I am not sure how long we (AT&T note 4 people) will have to wait or if one or both of those updates are included in this one.

Just looked up the root for GN4, AT&T and Verizon locked their bootloaders. Rooting through Odin may never happen

Yeah some are saying you may be able to run a Sprint or T-mobile root but I will not chance it. I just like to run root to reclaim some storage from the AT&T bloatware and to get rid of KNOX

I just remove some of the bloatware and what I can't remove I deactivate.
With the note 4 having a base of 32 gig on board (vs 16) and also having a 64GB SD card I am good to go for storage. Deactivating the bloat ware also helps in the performance department but frankly I have to say I have had great performance on the phone so far so it is not an issue.

As far as knox...I can understand that but I was never big on the rooting thing so it does not bother me as much as it does others.

Do you need root to install a custom ROM? Most phones don't. Usually, xda developers will have a debloated stock ROM.

I do not trust some of the roms that get distributed about I root mainly to remove things like ATT apps and KNOX which eats batteries. beyond that that is all i really root for and if something useful comes along that I cannot run on my phone. Yes the GN4 having 32GB is nice but I was up to 30GB on my GN2 with a 64 GB microSD. Most of it is email attachments, and pictures.

I'm going to wait a while before I update my Note 4 (if I update at all), to see what issues, if any, people have with it. My note runs pretty good now, and I don't want a repeat of what happened with my Note 1, when I updated the OS, and it became an error riddled, slug.

T-Mobile is slow with updates. Still waiting for them to release it for the LG G3.

not really sure when my note4 was updated, but so far i really don't like a bulk of the changes.

now when i scroll down, it wants to "refresh" the page even if i'm just trying to get to the top of it. say i'm in here at the bottom of a post, and i swipe down to scroll up and it refreshes the page.
when i click a link it now has an annoying habit of expanding 3-4 links there and making me pick it again, even though the one i wanted changed color so i hit the right link.

so far i'd rather have my previous OS on my note2.

Use a different browser.

If you are using chrome or a browser that is not stock...then that would be that browser update.

If it is the stock browser...try using a different one.

On an unrelated note...
This is not just a 5.0 lollipop update....it is the 5.0.1 update.
I cant remember what the extra update was going to fix but it may have been the battery issue.

I have not had much time to mess with it as I got busy at work after updating but I will say I will have to fix some of the notifications on the locked screen as I don't want to see the battery saver ap on it every time I touch my phone after the screen rests.

to be honest i don't get much into the revs/changes and the like for a tablet. but i think i get what you're saying, not the OS doing the refresh but the updated browser.

i'll drop chrome and put someone else on and see what they do. appreciate the tip.
