Lone Star College stabbing: At least 14 wounded, suspect in custody

At least 14 people were wounded in an apparent mass stabbing at Lone Star College's CyFair campus in Cypress, Texas, on Tuesday morning.

The suspect, a white male armed with what one witness described as an X-Acto knife, was detained, police said. The suspect, believed to be 21, was enrolled at the school.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said police received a 911 call at 11:12 a.m. local time reporting a white male "on the loose stabbing people."

The school was placed on lockdown.

There was a shooting on one of the other Lone Star campuses several months ago.

Why would nobody attempt to stop someone with an exacto knife before they could harm 14 people ?

Odd.

Those against gun control, .. "see, there are crazies everywhere, even without guns."

Those for gun control, .. "good thing he didn't have a gun or all 14 would be dead."

Can['t imagine anyone would be seriously hurt if I remember what an x-acto knife is correctly.

I disagree. Those things can do some damage plus it doesn't take much to slice through a major artery. Two of the victims are listed as being in critical condition.

It comes down to the details. Who saw what and when. He could have hurt a few people in one part of the campus and then popped up somewhere else with people not knowing who was doing what. As the story develops I am sure we will learn more.

Yikes, I saw he was stabbing; didn't know he was slashing too. I remember thier blades being like 2 or 3 cm long when I used to do models.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I wonder if the whole gun control thing was something that influenced this guy. "see, you can do it without guns."

I kinda doubt it, but it would be interesting.

I would be very surprised if this guy was trying to make some sort of statement about gun control. I'd guess that, like many of the others, this guy was making a statement about his mental stability, more then anything.

I wonder if he was able to do so much damage because nobody really knew what was going on.

X-acto knife is pretty small. Not much to see so he can just hit and run and nobody really knows what's going on.

You're probably right...

but you'd certainly have to question the mental stability of someone who stabs people to prove that gun control won't work.;)

Prosecutor: Lone Star stabbing suspect used 'Exacto' knife and scalpel

By Dale Lezon, Brian Rogers

A 20-year-old man charged in the stabbings at a Lone Star College campus Tuesday will be held without bail and will undergo psychiatric tests after a judge heard Wednesday that he fantasized about killing.

At video conference arraignment before dawn, prosecutor Caroline Dozier told a magistrate that Dylan Andrew Quick had fantasies about stabbing people.

"In a videotaped confession, he admitted he stabbed the complainants with an Exacto knife and a scalpel because of his fantasy to kill people," Dozier told the magistrate, who decided Quick would be held without bail after hearing there were more than six victims, called complainants, and "a bloody knife tip was removed from one of the complainants."

Yep, your right. Fortunately for me, I've got enough problems of my own.

Or the other side of the aisle showing that even if you are crazy, .. you can't do much damage without a gun.

I would not put it past either side.

Point taken, but i'd say stabbing 14 people is a lot of damage. A bigger knife, and all 14 might be dead...

Sheriff: Knife attack at Texas college was random

By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI and JUAN A. LOZANO | Associated Press – 1 hr 32 mins ago

CYPRESS, Texas (AP) — A man accused of stabbing more than a dozen people at a suburban Houston community college chose his victims at random, authorities said Wednesday, going from one floor to another as he used a razor utility knife to slice people in the neck and face.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said while Quick has been cooperative and forthcoming with investigators, the motive for the attack was still a mystery.

The attack took place on the first and second floors of the health science building, but investigators weren't yet certain on which floor it began. They were working Wednesday to piece together the sequence of events.

Quick slashed at his victims with a razor utility knife, and prosecutors said a scalpel was found in his backpack. A bloody knife tip was removed from the chest of one of the victims, according to prosecutors.

All but two of the victims had been released from local hospitals by Wednesday.

I hate this sort of politicizing issues for their own agenda. It's nonsense.

If I was doing what you say I was, .. which side do you think my agenda is on?

That's right, .. you don't know.

So I wasn't doing anything to support any agenda.

I hate when people jump to conclusions about things they know nothing about.
