Hi all ,jsut want your opinion on what you would do in my situation. I have a son he is only six years old and i always joke my friends that have kids as well that your not doing your duty as a father if your son is a fan of another team. Well I will always cheer for the boys no matter what but should i put my son through this? He woke up this morning with his Cowboys hat and shirt ready to go to school and i thought to myself man when he gets older he is going to either hope Jerry has sold the team or have some thick skin and some good comebacks! Man i want this team to strive and be elite again but it just seems that it will not happen anytime soon. With our rash of injuries and cap situation for next year where is the hope? I cant keep basing my season off of victories over the Commanders, at some point we have to wake up and actually be competitive again right? The question is should I let him choose for himself or KEEP HOPE ALIVE and tell him some comebacks I have leard over the years?

Same thing happened in my home. My 7 year old son grabbed his Cowboy shirt and wanted to wear it today. I told him this wasn't a good day for that and to simply grab something else. I'm still trying to figure out the explaining part. Hopefully in a couple of years I won't have to worry about that. BTW school today? They are closed around here for Vet's day.

Let him wear it. Your son needs to show himself and his friends what a true fan looks like and does even when his team loses or is losing.
He also needs to be able to weather the storms and disappointments of life. I'm convinced that many adults aren't able to deal with life because obstacles have been removed from their lives when they were younger. You can't win anymore because everyone's a winner. There are no losers.
You can't bully (not that bullying is right, but I think you learn about fortitude and strength of character when you have to endure certain trials in life - think of the butterfly). We try to remove any and all of the obstacles God uses to refine us into mature adults who have depth and strength of character.
So let him walk proudly and endure the ridicule, mock and jeers. Then when he comes home, maybe crying, console him and tell him that by doing so he is one step closer to becoming a man and a true fan, more than the guys (and gals) who joined the crowd (which is so easy to do) and mocked while times and days favored them.
Furthermore, when the Cowboys start winning, no one will be able to doubt his loyalty or call him a fair-weathered fan. He'll have earned his stripes during the bad times.

School is open where I'm at and I'm wearing a Cowboys shirt right now. I may be disgusted with their performance last night but I'm still a fan.

hey fence sitter. I feel that you should pick another favorite team other than Dallas and let your son decide for himself. In my family, all the children followed dad and love our Cowboys Football.

Cowboys are going on 17 years with one playoff win. What exactly changed yesterday? I don’t think wearing sports appeal means all that much anyways.

Losing interest in them a little year by year. I live in a city with another NFL team & of course that is all I hear.

I follow the Cowboys but only on here. I don't watch segments on them on pre game shows or anything like that.

I turned the game off last night.

I don't live and die with them as much anymore. Although, I was extremely excited for last night's game and they just didn't show up. That'll teach me to be excited.

Plus, living up here in Seattle with the Seahawks being probably the best team in the NFC really blows.

I love Seattle the city but that team I hate!

I don't buy Cowboy merchandise & have no desire to go to a game so I only watch on tv.

I hardly qualify as a devout fan like so many. Love the board though. I just get my info on here.

I would recommend let him cheer for the Cowboys (or whatever team he likes).....he is still very young. Hope that by the time he is grown young man he will see Stephen as the owner and Stephen would have learned from his dad what NOT to do. Hire a real GM, real HC and return the Cowboys to glory. I have given up on Jerry, our only hope now is Stephen.

Not a fence Sitter if you can read i stated i was staying true to the Cowboys. Always have always will benn a fan since 73. And i love Cowboy football too but to say your happy just watching and not winning is just insane. But then again you may be one of the fans that goes to games and sips wine and eats crackers with Grey Poupon! And dont really care about being successful.

There is a thread in a forum on here that says tv ratings were low in the Metroplex for the game last night.

Maybe fans are getting tired of the Cowboys. On tv anyway.

I like that kid...who woke up and got all Cowboy up dress code blue silver and white ready be a Dallas Cowboy. Sometimes old Cowboys need to get a refresh from the New Cowboys fans. HVD vets and stand tall today as all you posters...just being here with concerns says you all on the Zone today are true Cowboys fans. It's ok not to be happy about our team but it's ok.

The hardest part about the whole thing is that to be a Cowboys Fan you have to be a Jerry Jones Fan as well.....now that is painful enough to route for another team not in the NFC East. Do it for your Family!
