Zach Ertz and Eric Ebron called. They beg to differ on the shut down comment

In the game that mattered, Zach Ertz busted us for 4 catches for 19 yards. And Jones doesn't cover the tight end on every single play anyway.

C'mon, man.

I'm not gonna lie, I wanted Collin's badly. If we can do it all over again, I would take Collins over Byron. The dude has been an absolute monster and is well on his way in becoming the best safety in the league.

Then you'd have Collins, Church, Wilcox, and Heath, and still wouldn't have a free safety on the roster.

Five spots after Byron Jones, another safety Landon Collins was selected. Collins is a DPOY candidate and has 6 career INTs.

In the 2nd round, three spots after Randy Gregory another DE, Frank Clark was selected. Clark has 13 career sacks.

A littler perspective is needed when we dissect the hell out of a clip of Gregory running down a RB 7 yds down the field or when we fawn over Jones' versatility. Both players are getting severely outplayed by lesser picks at their same position.

Frank Clark got suspended from his university and was in trouble with the law for beating the tar out of his pregnant gf. You wanted us to draft him the same season we were dealing with Greg Hardy and his domestic violence case? Collins plays strong safety and he was trash last year at free safety. This is typical the grass is always greener. Other fans are jealous their teams don't have a Byron Jones and here you are rueing the pick smh

It is like people have Debbie Downer Syndrome right now.

This is not the first thread I have seen where someone just has to find something to be negative after we just finished the season with one of the best drafts in a long time where it appears we may have gotten a franchise RB and a Franchise QB. Where we just wrapped up the East, wrapped up home field advantage and a bye going into the playoffs but they have to find a thread and topic that is negative. Just can not help themselves.

Ironically it is not even the first thread that the same user has done that is negative like this.

Seriously sad that some just can not look at we have done this season so far and sit back and enjoy it because anything can happen going forward and there might be plenty of things and time to complain. Good Grief.

Reminds me of the scene in bad santa where Marcus tells Willie....You need many years of therapy. Many, many bleeping years of therapy.

In those games he has been playing more CB to help out since Mo was injured and OScan has not been 100%.

That is why we have been seeing more of Wilcox recently and even more heath sightings.

Everyone can draft well two years after the fact, it's what you do in real time that matters. I'll take what our scouting department has been able to do in recent years and be happy with it. If you were saying we should have drafted Collins and Clark when the draft actually took place, then good on you...you da man.

One can say the same about Dak who was picked 133 and 134 picks after Wentz #2 and Goff #1.

In nickel, he covers the tight end if the opponent has a good one.

Don't evaluate a draft by whichever players in the round outperform the ones we selected. Jones is a legit player at a position of significant need for us. I'm not going to lose sleep over the fact that the Giants guy is better.

Gregory, we knew was a risk that didn't pay off. It's a shame, because he's got all the talent in the world, but it was a whiff.

The rest of that draft, though, brought us Swaim and Wilson. Those guys both looks like legit contributors. Wilson is probably the favorite right now to be the long term SAM, and Swaim's a legit blocking TE who, if he weren't behind Witten would probably be a starter. And that's a valuable role player in this offense.

I still dislike the Jones pick to this day.... ... He gets a lot of love for a player who doesn't create TO's. ... How many dropped INTs does he have?

This is something he can work on and improve. Plus it's not all about # of INTs. While they're nice, I'd rather have someone who's solid and reliable out there every play, with the versatility that Jones has, rather than someone who accumulates INTs.

Well said. This is a team sport, not an individual achievements sport.

:hammer:

I got into a little argument w a bud that Landon Collins was a better pick than Byron jones but he would have any of it. Said Collins was like Wilcox. Huh 6 sacks and 5 ints is the opposite of Wilcox

...but the 2016 draft was special (thus far) and looks to be our best draft ever. I get your point, but you can't win them all and it more than makes up for that draft...especially if a certain nerve starts firing.

That he has 6 sacks alone tells you how different he is from Jones. I feel like Jones has blitzed what...3 times?
