Novacek clumsy?? He did have a funny running style, but you are talking about the guy that held the NCAA record for points in the decathlon. The guy was a superior athlete.

But he ran routes like he was on roller skates for the first time.

One of the best Cowboys of all time and a sure fire HoFer...one of my favorite players and can't wait to see his name in the RoH.

I remember last year when the chicken littles were saying he was done, lol.

Novacek wasn't that slow.

Do you remember the play where he hurdled over the defender? Can't remember the game or the team, but I do clearly remember he did that.

I don't think there is any alternate dimension that you would see Witten doing something like that.

It was Kansas City on Thanksgiving Day in 1995.

Correct.

Novacek was a very good athlete in his day. His back betrayed him in the end or else he could have had similar numbers to what Witten has now
.

I doubt that. Novacek did play 11 years in the league and was 33 years old during his last season. Even without the back problems he was probably only going to last another 2 or 3 seasons. His numbers would definitely be better had he played a little longer, but they would be nowhere near to what Witten has now. The true reason being that Novacek's first 5 years were wasted in Arizona. He had 83 receptions for 1054 yards during that time span. That is a single season for Witten. It was too bad that back problems did rob Dallas of having Novacek around for a couple of more years.

Anybody else notice that Witten looked faster than usual in the Commander's game? My son and I were looking at each other like "where did that speed come from?"

It always amazed me how a guy that looks so slow after he catches the ball can get so wide open to catch the ball.

I don't get it either but I've been saying the same thing for years. Everytime he starts running down field my wife and I just laugh because we know what each other is thinking. I'd like to know his 40 time is right now.

I was at that game! Freaking awesome game! Irvin caught that one handed TD and Dale Carter got kicked out.. I was 15 and we flew out from CA. One of the best games I've ever been to.

Jason Witten is the slowest man in the NFL to ever make so many would be tacklers whiff right by him. Love the dudes understanding of the game.

Witten will have a longer career than highly athletic TEs. Age saps the athletic ability and you have to have the "smarts" to pick up other things to stay successful. Look at Gates extremely athletic but time has taken most of that from him. He still shows flashes but he is not a precise route runner not as fast his time is nearly done as a top tier TE. Vernon Davis is another one that will fall off the table here in a few years.
