Lovie got his team to the Superbow and Dungy won. There is the difference.

Phillipas has had two opportunities and not been successful. I don't care if he is boring or not. I would rather have an unproven guy than one who has not succeeded. Turner and Phillips have both had their chances. I hope Phillips can do a better job in Dallas than his previous two opportunities, but I won't bet the house on him.

Tony Dungy was FIRED from Tampa and the Colts were questioned when they hired him by some. He was seen as a guy that couldnt get a team to the top of the mountain. Lovie Smith was known as a strong defensive guy but some questioned him getting hired too...and what track record did he have as a head coach?

I said I would rather have someone with no track record than one whose record has proved to be lacking. Dungy got Tampa to an NFC title game. Phillips has not been that close. I always thought Tampa was a bit premature in their move to get rid of Dungy. It has cost them, too. They won in Gruden's first year, but the loss of draft picks has cost them additional success.
