Im not so sure Harris is better than lucky. Let's compare them at the same point in their careers. Lucky has had 3 very nice returns called back but remember Harris avg less than 6 yards per punt as a rookie and did nothing in the offense
People memory of players as rookies tend to be off compared to reality
Harris is a very good player who has improved as his career has went on just like lucky will but in his first season lucky sure shows at least as good a return skills if not better
Fans don't have the patients for players to develope but Harris did little his first year because he needed to develope his skills

In 2011, Harris's rookie year, he had a WR named Laurent Robinson just ahead of him. That probably explains why he didn't do much on offense.

I'll admit to having egg on my face about Lucky. Back in mid-late September, I didn't like the fact that we wasted a roster spot for a guy who the coaching staff didn't trust to PR/KR. He felt as useless as Devin Street, IMO. From here on out, I will refrain from detracting from his worth (and by that, I mean....until I deem it necessary to turncoat on his butt...j/k).

In previous games, it's his decision to catch and return punts from inside the 5 yard line that the coaching staff is worried

Maybe not the best comparison but he kinda reminds me a bit of Tayvon Austin I think that's his name the dude that plays for the Rams?

I'd also say I think he is one of the most improved players on the team as the seasons gone on.

I honestly think we should have him in our offense more, him and dez over the middle, quick inside slants will open up this offense. Get the ball in Lucky's hands, he can fly!

man I been calling all season man can he just do a playaction and throw it out there to him and let him go get it I believe he will make a play he always making plays when he has the ball in his hands except a fumble man what punt returner has never fumbled on a return. we clearly see he has skills and quickness along with speed potential playmaker with the ball in his hands

SIdenote: Devin Street... finally gets open, finally gets a pass, finally catches it... fumbles.

How about pushing Lucky Whitehead up to STreet's spot?

Amazing change of direction with the ball in his hands. Might be a truly good return man and slot receiver if he continues to progress forward.

I missed the game but saw the highlights and have been reading my way through the post-game threads. What I'm getting from this one is that, for the time being at least, we should postpone visiting the dermatologist? :D

Lucky has dez, Williams and Beasley ahead of him. Both may have contributed more if targeted more but lucky is playing just as well if not better than Harris did at this point

Definitely a fan of Lucky. Dude has shown that he might be capable of adding an extra element to our offense. I really hope he develops in the receiving game.

That second jet sweep he did, it looked like the defenders realized he had the ball when Lucky was already 5-7 yards downfield.

He seemed to be faster than everyone on the field last night.

As long as comps between Harris and Lucky are limited to return skills--which omits a lot of Harris' game---it's fair to compare, imo.

This guy has caught a lot of heat as the season has went on and most of it has been justified.

I think we have a playmaker on our hands and he is every bit, if not more, impressive than Harris as a rookie. He seems to always be a threat with the ball in his hands in the return game...and he has been a spark on offense when used effectively. It is good to see any rookie contribute somehow (he has been more of a spark than Gregory at this point).

Good UDFA find.

Fine open field runner and very quick.

They need to play him in the slot more and play Beasley less.

He provided good field position for our offense and well he got us to the 44 and nearly broke it there at the end. Happy for him and the more j see him contribute in the offense the better, he can fly, can grow into a very good offensive weapon, used the way we used Dunbar if he doesn't come back.

Return game and even what they bring to the offense.

At least the way Dallas used them both. Harris brought a lot on kick coverage though.

Lucky is incredibly fast. He seems to get full speed in just a few steps and looks faster than everyone on the field. I was definitely impressed with his return ability, we may actually found a weapon on returns.

The offensive series he's utilized in are funny. It doesn't look like much but man he can get downfield quick. I'd use him more.

I'd love to see some rub routes scheming to get him open in space.
