New and excellent term.Except when it reflects positively in favor of a Cowboy. Then PFF stats get trotted around here like a ring girl with a round card.

Please translate to non-geniusYa, nothing burger.
As a whole this team isn't that good in pass coverage. We're 29th (69.73) in completion percentage, 27th in passer rating (101.3) and 20th(7.1) in yds/attempt. It's not just a LVE issue, it's a team wide one too.I'll throw myself into the onslaught, but despite all of the positive media coverage, LVE did have a big flaw in his game on Sunday.
Leighton Vander Esch was targeted 11 times and allowed 10 receptions for 92 yards, 47 yards after the catch, and had his first career interception.

PFF as a source is worthless. He was playing mostly zone so how do they base being targeted?
I dont understand where they come up with those grades. LVE wasn't playing man to man, so how was he targeted? Ertz just ran to the open spot and caught a lot of passesPFF is indeed worthless. The grading system is the most arbitrary thing going. None of it has any substance at all. No clear explanation on how they even really get to these grades they give out. It's new age junk that is thrown around a lot these days.
And yes, he absolutely was playing zone. Ertz would find the soft spot and sit down. They were not directly targeting LVE nor was he running with Ertz directly. Unless PFF knew each assignment for every player (they don't), they can't know this and who was supposed to be where. It's always tricky with zone coverage to assign who exactly was targeted. Not saying LVE is perfect in coverage but this stat is very misleading.

PFF just loses credibility with this one.
Vander Esch’s coverage ability is a huge strength of his.
I don’t know what they base their stat on but Vander Esch is about as good as it gets in coverage already for a linebacker.
What downside?!?!?I'll throw myself into the onslaught, but despite all of the positive media coverage, LVE did have a big flaw in his game on Sunday.

Nope, he is not a 3-4 pass rushing OLB...He is a rookie folks.
DeMarcus Ware he is not.
Not yet.

Hey bro, I'm not dissing LVE at all... just sharing the stat - I have nothing to do with how it was calculated or anything like that, I think he's a stud and was a great pick in the 1st.Leighton Vander Esch named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week after dominating performance in Philly.
