Some of the negative comments re Bennet are much too soon particularly the one from another board which is already saying he may be a bust. Happily the Cowboys are a lot smarter then some & won't cut him before TC or try to trade him to Miami to get Fasano back. I just think we all need to take a breathe and stop worrying right now. The Archer article on him sounded like he willing work hard (he's going to have to around Witten & Curtis) and learn the position as fast as he can. Don't forget, he's got almost 5 more weeks before TC starts & you can bet he's going to get as much help as he can handle from his position coach.

I don't know if you could call that a book that Mac Engel wrote about Tony Romo.

It was more like a magazine. I got for Christmas I think.

granted guys, we need to give Bennett, time, room to grow, its always hard for most rookies to take that next step.

i would say with bennett watching the best at the position in Jason Witten, he sees what it takes, conditioining, working hard and studying, so give bennett time to grow into the position,

remember jason witten didnt exactly light it up his first year either, joe

How many different ways did you want Mac to preface his Martellus comments with "it's early" and/or "we dont completely know yet." I mean he said all that...so take it for what its worth. I know it's tough for some people on this site to admit, but every pick we make isnt going to be a pro-bowler, and some will be busts. To discuss how guys look early, is what this site is for in the months of June, so get over it if someone says something negative about one of our precious Dallas Cowboys. Sure hope Martellus has thicker skin than some people on this site!!!

Did not know he wrote a book about Tony Romo.

Not that it means much, but he doesn't seem that impressed with Martellus Bennett either.

Unbelievable-just b/c he had a couple of bad hair days in his opening OTA days means it's the end of the world for him, the Cowboys, and the entire DFW nation.:bang2:

Don't want to jump the gun here. We know nothing yet. But this is a Superbowl team. If Martellus is not at least the third best TE by the end of camp, we need to cut our losses. SB rosters cant afford dead weight.

Everyone is not jumping off the ledge on Martellus.

I think most would just like to hear about how well he is doing opposed to hearing that he has been having trouble learning the playbook and at times looked a little slow or had butterfingers on the field.

Haven't we learned to just trade out of the 2nd round in general at this point??

Anyway, I wish the best to our 132nd TE, we really needed one so badly. Switch him to WR, maybe he can be Colston........or maybe not.

Still can't believe we came out of the draft with no WRs, oh well.

To be fair-outside of Devon Thomas, this was really a weak draft for WRs.

I would have been THRILLED if we drafted DT with one of our #1's, but we needed RB/CB addressed first, nonetheless.

BTW-say what you want about Martellus, but if we had passed on him, he probably would have been drafted by the Gints in that same second round.(and Shockey would have been a Saint by now)

To be fair... it was a weak draft for WR's including Devon Thomas.

Who did you want that was better than what we have?

We already know Jerry's answer.

I'll reserve judgement on that until the players drafted get a chance to show what they can or can't do.

I remember prior drafts that were supposedly 'strong' at receiver, only to have several busts and disappointments.

Today?

Or ever?

Going by 'Jerry's answer', the team will continue to wait for receivers to 'fall out of the sky' and never draft anyone.
