Machota: If the Cowboys could get DeMarco Murray back for the right price, they'd do it

Comparing any skill position player to last season is like apples and oranges.

Yes, Murray was tremendous last season, McFadden has been only above average. The whole point was that 1300 yards is pretty easy to accomplish behind this OL in this offense. I am sure Murray could've done it even better but it's not worth what he got paid. Our mistake will alwaddenays be not drafting a back and relying on McFadden/Randle to replicate what Murray did last season.

1300 yards won't be accomplished and I don't believe it would have been had McFadden started the season. In the first 5 games he averaged under 4.0 on 37 carries. While McFadden was averaging less than 4.0 a carry the first 5 games Randle averaged over 6.0 a carry the first 5 games last season in the same role. I think Randle would have had a better shot at 1300 yards than McFadden. McFadden hasn't been consistent enough to gain 1300 yards and you can't just focus on a backs total rushing yards you have to look at their situational yards that help move the chains and put points on the board. McFadden hasn't even been average in tough yardage situations. Put a solid back behind this OL that had 3 Pro Bowlers this season and they would have lit it up taking a lot of pressure off the QB position. Despite the yards McFadden has gained the offense has been awful due to the QB position and our inability to move the chains on 3rd down.

One other point I'll make on McFadden many felt (not me) that if he could somehow stay healthy the entire season he would have 1500-plus this season. I can assure you most would have picked a lot more than just under 900 yards for 14 games had they known he wouldn't miss a game. The only thing that's surprised me about him this season is that he has stayed healthy.

To bring back Murray would be a mistake. He left. Let him go. He's been exposed for what he is.. mediocre.

29 year old RB with a lot of wear and tear, one who missed significant time every year except a contract year....i'll take a draft pick at this point thank you

Murray is 27.... at least get your facts right guys

I'd rather draft some one to come in and split time with McFadden next year and then hopefully prove they can be the work horse and take over for McFadden either by the end of next season or in their second season in Dallas.

This team has bigger problems than Demarco Murray being gone. They are so far from being just one player away....

How are they so far from being one player away? During that losing streak they were just 1 play away from winning all those games outside of the NE game. All they need is a true DT or S to put the defense over the hump.

I said all off season he wasn't special and wasn't worth signing to big dollars.

Well last years 'deepest rb draft ever' has been pretty abysmal outside of Gurley. McFadden has more rushing yards than the whole class and it's not really close

I would take Gurley, Yeldon, Abdullah, Coleman, DJohnson x2, MJones, KWilliams, Ajayi in a heartbeat

I'd take Gurley, rest are jags

Not even close to accurate

Yeldon, David Johnson, KWilliams and Ajayi would start here
Coleman, Duke Johnson, Abdullah, MJones are all home run hitters this team lacks

Murray wouldn't have garnered us any more wins unfortunately. Jim Brown probably couldn't have saved us.

Not signing Murray was the single greatest reason for the Cowboys demise.

I have documented extensively why this is a fact, I'm not in the mood to repeat myself, I'm just so disgusted with destiny flushed down a toilet.

Romo doesn't get harassed, the defenses fear the running game. The offensive line know their guy, his timing. The defense gets more rest.

I also documented how Murray lobbied to stay, said he was willing to work with them cap wise. I documented how the Cowboys offered him nothing more than a complete insult, practically chasing him out of town.

I went on to express shock that anybodywould put their faith in a fool like Randle.

I presented statistical evidence demonstrating how the idea that RB's decline after a season like he had is a totall myth.

Its over.

Its over for Tony Romo. It's over for Jason Witten. The window has closed. It will take years to find another guy that just fell in their lap in the 3rd round.

As far as redemption , or justication, or any confirmation as a true NFL expert in football operations, it is over for Jerry Jones.

So for all of you that say its time to move on, when it comes to the belief that there will be any success for this team in the immediate future...its time to move on.

Cost us the Green Bay game last year, more so than the non Dez catch IMO.
Tonight, five carries 27 yards one td for and coughed up a backbreaking TD for the other team. Apparently, he likes to fumble against the skins. I remember last season, in the skins game we lost which kept us from the number one or two seed btw, Murray broke off a 60 yard run that would've put us deep in the red zone and able to just about seal the game when he decides to fight three defenders for an extra two yards and then gets stripped of the ball costing us....probably that game and home field in the playoffs.
Screw Murray I hope he rots on the sidelines in Philthy.
