I think an option for the running game that continues to be overlooked is the opportunity to use Harris in a Percy Harvin type role. Mix in maybe 3 to 5 plays a game with him in that role. He has a wiggle that seems to find areas to run through. I think we could also get Randle involved in a screen game. He doesn't have Dunbar speed but he is reliable catching the ball. We can look inside first at our options before running out and grabbing someone off the street.
I like that. It was discussed a little bit before around here somewhere, but he was an option QB in college. I think he could play in some sort of Wildcat role, if not take handoffs or tosses directly.

This is interesting, with Harris. He is built like a RB.

Randle's got decent hands, he's just so dang slow. Who knows? Maybe it just hasn't clicked for him, yet. I do think we're better off giving the snaps to somebody already on the roster, for all the obvious reasons.

In all the years that Garrett has been in Dallas, what in his past makes you believe that he would suddenly decide to implement this kind of massive change to how he does things?

He has shown that he can suggest we add all kinds of niche players and unless injury makes it happen, they rarely, if ever get opportunities.

In other words, he apparently has all kinds of ideas, but when it comes down to it, he either is too conservative to implement in earnest or something happens that makes him get cold feet. "Trust" is a bigger issue with him than a lot of offensive minds.

Just seems like you genuinely dislike this place, but for some odd reason continue the banter. Kinda weird.

He "cuts through the crap".

And not much else apparently...

Now this is a good argument.

I think they could do things with new players and implement strategic changes and Alexander brings maybe not stats or numbers, but statements that are quite real in objection.

Statements that have substance in reality.

I can only hope that history doesn't repeat and that real gamesmanship is employed- Aggressive strategy is utilized and Garrett coaches like a coach with his job on the line.

Good show- Alexander. One of the posters I truly look forward to reading and hopefully commenting with. A poster to always be considered with full attention.

There were two plays I believe using Harris in a Harvin type way out of the backfield and both were productive. I don't think it's a massive change at all and I'm not looking for it to be run 10 plus times a game. I'm suggesting that this element could be added more consistently to help the run game fill some of the void that was created with the Dunbar injury.

Your first sentence is different topic.

Yes because it makes sense to risk our special teams giving a wide receiver 3 to 5 carries a game...a wide receiver coming off a hamstring pull no less....

Having been on this board for several years , I know that the cowboys never made an idiotic move (and there have been plenty of them) that you are not ready to defend with hope and believe, so I usually don't take your posts seriously but will respond to you this once .

I am a fan of the cowboys as a team, not of any individual player, and am analytical in my personal and professional life. I see obvious issues with this team and point them out and if you read my posts and the responses to them you know that there are MANY on this board who agree with me.

I am a fan of looking back to learn from it but not to hang my hat on it, I like to hang my hat on what is going on now and dislike the acceptance of mediocrity and excuse making .

Over a decade and a half of bad moves by our FO have left no room for fans to give these people the benefit of the doubt, so hope and believe are just words some posters like to use to delude themselves into thinking better days are ahead as a way to ignore the obvious and to somehow prove they are the real fans when nothing could be further from the truth. These are not fans they are groupies . I like to keep my eyes open and look at the facts and see things for what they actually are.

I don't dislike anyone on this board (since I don't have any context to make that judgement ) but I do pity many and am often saddened and (yes) even surprised at the power of self delusion . In fact there are many on this board who know a ton more about football than I do (and I always read their posts with interest ) . We all have our strengths and weaknesses and to me, the biggest strength is knowing your weaknesses .

I am a die hard cowboys fan, I am on this board, on the board before this and was on the DMN board, so please spare me the faux emotion .

I am a fan of the team
I intensely dislike the lunatic (thanx RS) owner, in this there is no debate
I think Garrett is in over his head but am willing to be proven wrong

That is the context of my posts

If these things offend you, please ignore me by all means

So we should probably sit Beasley on those 3rd down conversions because he's our current special teams returner and we can't risk that. If we lost players to injury at the WR position are we going to tell Harris to take a seat on the bench because we don't want to risk special teams? What the heck are we using Williams for on kickoffs? That might risk our offense. I've mentioned using Harris in a Harvin type role before, well before his current injury. He's a human pinata on plays that the league has focused on reducing injury and trying to make safer and you have concern about using him in the run game?

Your post has a playing not to lose vibe to it.

You're advocating giving our special teams player rb snaps...how about we give our rb those carries.

What in the world makes you think running harris into the line of scrimmage is going to accomplish?

I have no qualms. That was a very tactful response. Let's go Cowboys!

In terms of staying healthy, I'd be shocked if someone else didn't go down. Its another 4 games...hard to play that many without someone getting hurt.

Well..

Yes..if you follow this team..

No way do you not expect somebody else to go down

and reduce our chances going forward.

Sure I want to give Demarco carries. What I'm talking about is when he needs to hit the sidelines for a blow. I'm advocating we use Harris in a Harvin role for a few plays a game when Demarco needs a blow. I'm advocating this as an idea to come up with a way to produce positive plays in the running game because we need to now replace the lost Dunbar carries. I don't think 3 to 5 plays with Harris is asking too much, he is elusive and I feel it would be productive to the run game. What about lining him up at RB and using him for a screen pass? These are just ideas that I think may work, you disagree, that's all that's going on here.
