The roller coaster of opinion on this kid is unreal. I am talking about mine, not anyone else's by the way. Last year he absolutely stunk out loud. I wanted him gone long before we signed Ryan Williams, whom I liked. I gave him an F for 2013. Then we signed Williams and I'd have bet money he was gone, and would have been wrong. Then comes the pre-season and he looks good. I am back on board. He picks up the blitz better than Williams. He plays Special Teams better. I get it, even if my bias is with another player. News of the shoplifting pissed me off, but I figure that isn't reason enough to dump him. I knew there would be plenty calling for his head for a relatively minor mistake. I was determined I wouldn't be among that group. I knew he'd face a fine, and a lot more than just the arrest for petty theft. I was fine with that. Still fine with keeping him around. Now the video surfaces, with him crassly talking about his teammates, and one of them is from his alma mater on top of that, and we get word of meetings to smooth over and rumors that he's on the outs in the locker room with more than just the two players he disrespected, and I want him gone. Unless he can figure out some way to make it up to those guys, I want him gone. I am not denying his talent. I've gone out of my way not to overreact to these stories, but I just don't see how you can keep him despite his talent.

Randle is very young and that's probably what is being taken into consideration right now. What would make Garrett a better head coach? Cutting a young player for getting out of line or keeping him around and bringing him in line?

I'm curious how Randle will respond if he plays.

That is a valid point.

Great post Hos. It's not like this kid is an elite player where the team needs to overlook his shortcoming because he is such a talent. Garrett should have punted his *** that day of practice, if not right after the shoplifting incident to further support that he wants solid guys that are smart and make good decisions.

People talk about how RBs are a dime a dozen then this team holds onto this jerk like he is gold.

Make a statement JG and send this cancer packing.

I think he needs to make a statement that this kind of stupidity will not be tolerated and cut his ***.

The shoplifting doesn't bother me that much. Yeah, it was stupid. Yeah, it was illegal. yeah, it was dishonest. But I don't mind these young guys making mistakes as long as they have to pay for them.

However, betrayal of teammates is something that I don't think is a minor thing at all. One poster above had a very good point about if Garrett can move the team past this it will show his coaching ability. I agree, it will.

Maybe it's the timing of the starting QB going down with 2 transverse process fractures, coming off a loss, and the starting LG also out while the WLB broke a finger. The last thing I think we need is a guy whose loyalty is to himself, and that's what that video indicates to me.

I agree - his chemistry impact carries more weight than his legal issues. That's why I said he is a cancer

All true.

But chemistry is very important as well.

And if the majority of the team doesn't want him around, the negatives outweigh the positives.

I think today is his last day on the team and predict a Monday release.

I agree that at some point hes made himself a net liability. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. It stinks though.

I have to admit that if also really like to see Williams run.

Yeah, I'll reiterate that I think he's gone come tomorrow.

I'll be surprised if he gets on the plane to London.

Good luck with that. JJ isn't in to releasing players for disciplinary reason.

I truly believe Jerry would keep a serial killer around.
